Live at B.B. King's Club, Times Square 8-9:30pm
Wow was this cool. Minimal gear, minimal stage, they just played, and it rocked. Highlights for sure were the last 5 songs. (Don't tell me you love me was absolutely fantastic!) Big props to Joel Hoekstra, the 2nd guitarist in Night Ranger who also plays lead guitar in the Rock of Ages Broadway Show. He absolutely shreds. The dueling solos with Brad Gillis were just awesome!
Gotta say I didn't realize Jack Blades was such a comedian! Telling stories, cracking jokes, he is a great frontman. They didn't mind at all that this 15x platinum band was playing a seated club in times square. They looked like they were having a blast. Jack reminded everyone that Brad once played for Ozzy, and they started jamming on Crazy Train, played only 1 verse, 1 chorus and cut to the solo which he played perfectly. Then they were each telling about their first concert as a kid and started playing a tag of Zeppelin (Whole lotta Love, riff only), Doors (Roadhouse Blues, Kelly Keagy on vocals), Van Halen (Jump) Keyboard intro only. The audience was eating it up. But they had to wrap it up by 9:30 as the Legends of Hip Hop were on at 11. Just as well, had to get home and rest up for Slayerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
