Ya. :( Tonight's game will be quite interesting to say the least.

Being from Baltimore and watching Cal Ripken's streak was incredible but what Favre did and the way he played doing it is truly incredible.

If the 49ers pull out the NFC West victory, I will act as if it was a Super Bowl victory. I don't care if it's 7-9, I've been waiting for a long time for this.

Thank god it's over now so everyone can shut up about will he play/won't he play. It's too bad his career had to end like that, but it's his own fault.

Not gonna lie, I really like seeing Westbrook play well.

I've always liked Westbrook, even back in the Duce Staley days, and I like watching him as a 49er. He's not running too great from the backfield, really, but he's doing his job well. I really like watching Anthony Dixon play too.

Thank god it's over now so everyone can shut up about will he play/won't he play. It's too bad his career had to end like that, but it's his own fault.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him go on IR. He's playing like shit, and I think TJ gives them the best chance to win.

Yeah Westbrook wasn't a between the tackles guy, more of a "break this 5 yard screen 65 yards for a TD." He was also an awesome punt returner his first two years.

Funny you mention Duce - he's a RB coach here now, and he looks like he weighs 500 lbs. He's shown on the sidelines during a game, it's always good for some chuckles.

I know! I saw him one day on TV and I said to my dad "I used to tear shit up as that guy in Madden." and he nearly spat out his coffee.

I swear the Thursday night booth was engineered in a lab to be as fucking brutal as possible.

This game is the Napalm Death of football games. People want Singletary's blood here.

I don't think so, he is a good coach. I think it's more of a performance issue with the players then the coaching.

DethMaiden
12-17-2010, 08:17 AM
Eight straight losing seasons and you're still pointing at players? Here's a hint - they haven't been the same players all eight years. Get him outta there.

mastodon421
12-17-2010, 08:24 AM
The 49ers players always underperform, they haven't a good quarterback in years so that's a big reason they never have a winning record. They been a better team in the 3 years he's been the coach, so I think they should keep'em.

And sadly Singletary will probably get fired after this season. Players have very much been under performing, but he's being criticized for his offensive playbook/play calling. Gruden is the guy everybody wants (including me if it's not gonna be Singletary, but idgaf bout da 9rs breh).

Don't be so sure, they've had botched coaching jobs here also. If I were Jed York though, I'm keeping Singletary next year as well. I think they need continuity and they need a good draft class then I think they're a contending team.

AFC
Pats have first round bye, home field
Steelers have bye unless they lose and Ravens win next week
Chiefs #3 seed
Colts #4 seed
Ravens #5 seed unless they win and Steelers lose or they lose and Jets win
Jets #6, see above

NFC
Falcons have bye and home field unless they lose out and Saints win out (Falcons play Panthers next week, not gonna happen)
Bears have division, get bye unless they lose to the Packers and Eagles win next 2
Eagles #3 unless see above, or lose next 2 and Bucs win next week
Rams/Seahawks play next week, winner gets #4
Saints #5 unless they lose next 2 and Bucs win
Packers #6 unless they lose and Giants win next week

I think starting Troy Smith wasn't the right choice, but the sideline conversation was overblown. Singletary seemed fairly calm throughout while Troy was flipping out over getting benched mid game. The only reason he was fired yesterday was because he lost, not because of anything that happened with the QB situation.

I understand the fans' anger, but I am not quite sure this was the right decision.

I think the falcons are kinda schedule frauds, wouldnt be surprised to see them lose their first playoff game this year. Might be biased on the falcons though since i saw the eagles completely fucking destroy them (with kolb at qb) this year already. I think 5 of the NFC teams could win the conference this year, I'm leaning toward the Saints, personally.

Jesus, he's making it harder and harder to dislike him without just looking like a hater.

I'm rooting hard for Tampa Bay to hold on, and for the Bears and Redskins to win so the Bucs get in. They were the team of my childhood and I fucking love that they start a dozen rookies and are gonna in all likelihood go 10-6. Could end up being a dynasty in this decade.

That is crazy, because as much football as I watch I have not heard it. Would be very cool to hear anything like that during a game. On the Maiden board they were talking about Maiden being played as an NFL broadcast went to commercial this year. I can't remember which song it was. I am thinking that it was something off of Somewhere In Time.

Not a bad prediction. Just remember the Ravens went into Gilette stadium back in Oct and were dominating the Pats until the 4th quarter then wound up losing in OT. And that was without the best Safety in football... Ed Reed. The Ravens should have been up 31-10 in all reality. The Ravens have lost 4 games by a total of 16 points and NE lost by 20 to Cleveland.

I'm just hoping the Ravens put it all together at the right time. Cam Cameron is the key to our success... or failure.

I hate the Pats a lot and I'd rather then be a one and done; however Brady has played like a superhuman robot and deserves the MVP; plus you give Belichick a week to prepare and he is one of the best at doing that....however I will say that out of all the teams in the AFC playoffs, the Ravens have the best chance to knock off the Pats; I'll be rooting for the Ravens if they play

jhdeity
01-03-2011, 09:47 AM
No doubt. Brady for MVP 100% and Belichek is the master this time of year, especially against a team he's already played. The thing people might be overlooking is the top receivers in the last month or 2 for them have been Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. That's where Ed Reed and Ray Lewis come into play. The way to beat the Ravens is with deep threat WR's and the Pats don't really have that. Other than Jimmy Graham who the Saints lined up outside on Fabain Washington I can't remember any other TE even scoring on us all year.

I'm not looking past KC though. Dwayne Bowe is the kind of guy who could give us fits. Tamba Hali could give Oher and our other tackles fits also.

I'm thinking that Pit/Ind game could be fun to watch too. The AFC is stacked this year.

I don't think the 49ers are out. They're the more appealing team, but the Dolphins have the more appealing money.

To clarify, the players would not be going on strike if they didn't reach a new CBA. The players wouldn't be allowed to come to work. There's a difference.

I think Luck staying in school lessens the appeal of the Broncos job, since there's no way they can get Luck, and I doubt Harbaugh wants to work with someone who isn't his guy. The 49ers make too much sense for him not to go there.

And the Lions' schedule next year is brutal. I am not too optimistic about building on 6-10 by enough to contend for a wild card....but we'll see.

Sad the Chiefs lost, but still ecstatic about how their season turned out and that we made the playoffs. DBowe led the league in TD's, and Jamaal Charles was ludicrously close to having the NFL record of average yards per carry. Super proud of the Chiefs and I can't WAIT for next season.

The guy who got stiff armed on the Lynch TD should retire before the game is over.

Not sure if anyone realized it but Tracy Porter is the guy who got bitch slapped by Marshawn Lynch. The same guy who is scoring in that annoying Saints commercial they ran 10 times today. Irony?

Yeah I think SF has a great core of players also. If Harbaugh can work his magic with Alex Smith they'll be a playoff team next year. Draft a CB, get Gore back healthy, 3rd year Crabtree and the pieces of the puzzle are all there already

Alex Smith isn't coming back to San Francisco this year. His contract's up and both sides want out. Drafting a QB is probably Harbaugh's plan. In general, this post it the reason why the 49ers job was probably the most attractive opening.

Yeah, that division is so bad that getting that team into playoff shape by next year isn't out of the question.

While I agree, the NFC West has the highest playoff win percentage since 2005.

Division is pretty bad, but when it matters, we do awfully well. The 49ers were only one game out of the playoffs this year.

I agree, Locker would be a great fit in the 49ers offense, he has a ton of talent and he can hurt you with his passing and running. Is Locker the top rated quarterback now that Luck didn't enter the draft?

I like Locker, but only as a developmental prospect. He's not exactly a polished passer. He would remind the fanbase of Steve Young though, and while I'm not sure that comparison is just, fans would love the pick.

No, Ryan Mallett is.

Well, Ryan Mallett is a bust waiting to happen. He will dazzle you with physical ability but can't give you the intangibles or the intelligence that you want in a franchise QB. Unless he can develop those in the NFL, I don't want him. Plus, his mechanics need some work.

I think you'll see Blaine Gabbert have an epic rise in stock between now and the combine, but will slip a bit after then. Kiper has him in his top 10 now, which is plain ridiculous, but he'll be gone early for sure.

I agree but Locker might be the kind of guy to woo scouts at the combines too. To me Newton, Locker and Luck will be forever linked. Other than not wanting to go to Carolina I can't imagine what Luck is thinking.

I bet Harbaugh thinks he can turn Locker into a Brady-type. Can't picture him drafting Mallett who I think is more of a Josh Freeman hit-or-miss type.

Should be an interesting draft especially if Newton comes out.

No matter where Locker ends up going this year, he was, at worst, the #4 pick in the 2010 draft, in what is (probably) the last draft without a rookie wage scale. Even if he goes in the top half of this first round this year (which isn't a sure bet), he cost himself a truck full of cash.

From what I hear most of the offensive line is graduating, and Harbaugh is gone. 95% of the time I would say that's a good idea but if he's not gonna stick around for 2 years he might as well leave now. And there's nowhere to go but down in 2 years.

He's going to be the #1 overall pick when he comes out. It's just going to happen. There's no way that Luck has a Locker-esque drop because Luck is 100x more durable and there won't be flaws found with his game, assuming the pro style offense remains at Stanford, which I expect it to.

He's the best QB prospect since at least Matt Ryan, and probably more than that.

I don't think Rodgers would have been the Rodgers we know in a 49er uniform. He wouldn't have had the years on the bench under Favre, and he would have been thrown to the wolves in his first year. I think if the 49ers drafted Rodgers we would be saying the exact same thing about Alex Smith.

It's been a long time since we had a defense-minded head coach, I can't remember if Dan Reeves was a defensive minded guy;

I agree with you on McDaniels; however he has been getting interviews for O-Cord for the Rams and Vikings; you have to wonder how good a coach he is; he was given WAYYYYY too much power in Denver and I think that was more than he could handle; it's interesting to think what if he hadn't had that power in Denver would he have done better? Maybe, maybe not

btw I miss Hillis a lot; I could care less about Culter or Marshall...both were great players of course but trading Hillis (FOR FUCKING QUINN) was the moment I hated Mcdaniels

Especially with Moreno's fragile body. I knew that was a huge mistake at the time but Hillis made them regret that deal earlier than anyone thought I bet.
