Hm, I wouldn't know how to help with that. I had no problems - just downloaded the scrobbler and clicked the thing that asked me if I wanted to import my iTunes into my library. I'd go to the support forum and see if they can help, because having a last.fm account is really useful. I've found tons of great bands using the site. :D

That was my main thought while I was listening to the album. I had read about the Meshuggah reference as well, but the only thing that sounded like Meshuggah was the guitars every now and then. I was expecting something along those lines mixed with a little bit of Mnemic, Sybreed, Threat Singal, Periphery, etc... but it wasn't even close. The vocalist sounds A LOT like Devin Townsend to me when he's not growling. I also thought a little bit of Cynic was seeping through and I wouldn't be surprised since Cynic has a song called Textures. But overall, I enjoyed it immensely. I think the more I listen to it, the more it will stick.

SoulflyI saw them a few years ago just after War Metal Battle Master came out, and they were awesome. I think this album might be their best yet. It's stripped down and fun, as opposed to the dense, sludgy feel of previous albums. That's not to say it's a pop record - far from it - it's just that they let their punk roots show in spades, and the result is totally awesome. Every song is catchy as hell. It's a real trip - you have to pick yourself up a copy. Seriously. If you don't like it, I'll send you ten bucks on PayPal. :D

Exactly, I think he would probably love TSL. S/T is pretty much tied with Blast Tyrant as the best Clutch albums of all time in my opinion as well. I don't think Mank will go wrong with S/T, Blast Tyrant, or TSL. Unfortunately, the only TSL songs you hear live anymore at A Shogun Named Marcus and El Jefe Speaks. If you're really lucky you might get Rats, 12 oz Epilogue or Walking in The Great Shining Path of Monster Trucks. Thankfully they still play plenty of Self titled and Blast Tyrant of course.

My order for the nine main Clutch albums:

RH:E (it is close to a 3 way tie between PRF and FBSTO also)

TSL
SCFTW (it's growing on me I think will pass TSL soon)

TSL is so far down today since they don't play many of the songs live but the tracks will kick your ass. SCFTW is still growing on me. JR is the only misstep I think for Clutch however it still has some great tracks like Who Wants to Rock? Big Fat Pig, Release The Kraken, Basket of Eggs, Raised By Horses, Sink em low(early version before the one off PRF), and One Eyed Dollar (original version).

One of the interesting things about Clutch is one of their best albums is a compilation called Slow Hole To China with rare and unreleased songs. It still boggles my mind is how Oregon, Willie Nelson, Slow Hole To China, Sea Destruction, Guild of Mute Assassins, Easy Breeze, Hoodoo Operator, and Equinox never made it to one of the main albums. However, that's just Clutch they make too many amazing tracks and can't fit them on a record so they have to release a compilation.

Honestly it was tough for me to get into them, but once you get it, you GET it. You kinda have to have an ear to decipher everything thats going on, but Souls to Deny and Despise the Sun are pretty good places to start. Effigy is a classic, and Pierced From Within is pretty awesome. The self titled is probably the weakest. I'm trying to find Breeding the Spawn right now, but it's a tough one to find.
