The same can be said about Wildest Dreams, Different World, and The Pilgrim. Maiden are just better at slow, long songs at this stage in their career. Aside from being fast, The Alchemist doesn't offer a lot. :2cents:
The chorus is fucking awesome. You're crazy.

Well, you're still wrong because my first impression of The Alchemist was that it fucking rocked ;)

  Alright, I can deal with that. I still think The Chemical Wedding is the best thing Bruce has sung on since Seventh Son, and the fact that Maiden had to do a song called "The Alchemist" pisses me off just a little. ;)

Also, When the Wild Wind Blows is impressing me a LOT at the five minute mark. Sounds a lot like a Blaze-era song, but with Bruce singing. I can't find anything to complain about there.

Just picked up on the little backup vocals behind Bruce at part of the intro, that was really cool. But the intro is 2 minutes and 21 seconds of the same acoustic guitar line with Bruce basically talking over them. That's fucking ridiculous. I need this intro to be shorter before I can really buy into this song, because the payoff isn't quite worth that intro - unlike the Legacy, which had a longish acoustic intro that perfectly set up what greatness was to come. My least favorite on the record as of now, sorry.

I already mentioned this in Jeff's review thread, but the thing I like about the intro is the way that it matches up with the lyrics: the journey starts out slow and uneventful, and then when the heavy part comes in they get caught in a horrible storm. It works really well, IMO.

Many bands out there have ticket prices that are anywhere from a little bit to a lot over-inflated because they've achieved some measure of success.

TOOL tickets are not cheap. Fact.

But they are so. Fucking. Worth it.

Dude.

Seriously.

Just go. The next time you have an opportunity, just do it. You'll see what I'm talking about - I promise you.

A TOOL show is more than just a metal show - it is a mind experience.

Let me be clear about this.

You convinced me.

I actually just remembered, I recently got some new friends out of town where my cousin lives. At least two of them love Tool. Sounds like next time Tool pops into Oklahoma I'll be dropping acid with the dawgs and making a trip to OKC!

But now peep this. If you do decide to drop, they will definitely blow your fucking mind (but then again, Britney Spears might do the same thing in that state - it all depends on what kind of trip you're having ;)). The thing is, both times I've seen them, I've been stone cold sober and they fucking blew my mind anyway. Take that how you will. :fist:

Good examples, BTW. Both of those albums were much weaker than they should have been. Other good examples might be Belphegor, Keelhaul and Daath. Honestly, I really wasn't all that that impressed with the latest Cattle Decap, either.
