I dunno if I'd go as far to say they're my favorite, primarily because I'm a sucker for strings, but they're close.

Magic Hours

Drumming is a lot more rock-ish than any other part in their discography in this song.

Metal's been on the backburner for a while, and it might stay there for some time.

You know, I've really been meaning to listen to some more Post-Rock, but I keep putting it off. Give me your favorite album by 5 favorite Post-Rock bands and I'll look 'em up. I really like Post-Rock, but have been busy with other music.

I first listened to that album and Earth is Not A Cold Dead Place maybe eight months ago or so, and I haven't been able to shake them out of my head.

Well, my post-rock fascination is still, relatively, in its youth. I'll give it a shot though. You're going to get two albums from each band though, that's just how I work. ;)

Explosions in the Sky: The Earth is Not A Cold Dead Place; All of A Sudden, I Miss Everyone
Godspeed You! Black Emperor: Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven!; F♯ A♯ ∞
God Is An Astronaut: All Is Violent, All Is Bright; Age of the Fifth Sun
Mogwai: Mr. Beast; Mogwai Young Team
Sigur Rós: Takk; ( )

This is in no way a slight upon A Silver Mt Zion, Sleepmakeswaves, Slint or any of the other post-rock bands out there. They are all awesome.

Kind of agree. There was definitely a time when I totally agreed with that sentiment. There's certainly a bunch of crap songs better left forgotten, but there are some good songs on the early albums excluded from that compilation, and I'm starting to like the original versions much more than I used to.

I really like Post-Rock, but have been busy with other music.Sorry I'm a few days late on this one, Slappy, but I'd like to add a few that neither Brad nor Wine had mentioned:

This Will Destroy You - They have only two albums and they're both fucking fantastic. Their new one is due out any time now.
Caspian - They have only three albums, and they're all good as well. Start from the first and work forward if you really require a starting point.
Red Sparowes - Ditto Caspian. Three albums, all good, starting at the beginning of their catalog is fine.
Grails - These guys are trippy as fuck and very good. Their music varies from one album to the next, though. I like "Burning Off Impurities" the most.
If These Trees Could Talk - Akron, Ohio in da hizzy!!! Two albums, both awesome. If you can find them, they're definitely worth checking out.

Not literally. It is my favorite song of all time though, so there's some novelty to it.

Sorry I'm a few days late on this one, Slappy, but I'd like to add a few that neither Brad nor Wine had mentioned:

I'll check those out, thanks.
