Eh, I don't really even know how I feel. Blind Guardian's never failed at anything they've done. Saying they do one thing better than another is almost pointless to me. I just like the later stuff more than the early stuff.

Not everything has to be the cream at the top of the vat in terms of guitar tone for me to enjoy it, I guess.

The primary appeal for me is that it's a fun take on black metal, and the musicianship is really top-notch. I suppose, according to your theory, they may have faked some or all of it, but I wasn't thinking about that when I was listening. Not on this tour. I doubt they'll play either Accolade again without them being together, which is about 18-19 minutes of set time. On a tour like this, with the general audience that will probably be there, I would be SHOCKED at the decision to do it.
