I like the cover! :horns: Definitely doomy and less psychedelia. Just listened to the Vintersorg cover also and it just lacks the "slam and power" of the Serpentcult and the original. However, like the vocals and organ on the Vintersorg one.

Bad ass song either way! Did Dio ever cover this song? I think it would have sounded amazing with his voice. RIP RJD

If you've never heard the Uriah Heep album the song is from Demon and Wizards from 1972 I highly suggest you check it out! Like Blue Cheer, Sabbath, Zepplin, and Deep Purple these guys mark the beginnings of metal.

I saw Diamond Plate at this years Thrasho De Mayo this past May. They where fucking amazing. Probably the best band at that show next to Evildead, WARBRINGER, Merciless Death and Fueld By Fire and Sakrificer....The Moshpits where fucking brutal. I must have met over 200 people with split open heads, broken arms, broken legs, bloody chests, faces THE WHOLE NINE YARDS.......I am surprised I didnt get one scratch on my body at that show :D

and I was in the Pits from about 4pm to 2:45 AM in the morning....Ice cold water has never tasted so good

Speaking of which I recommend you check out Diamond Plate, warbringer, Evildead, Sakrificer, Synch merciless Death and Witch Haven. All great bands and bands that I have been lucky enough to see on one bill!!:rocker:

Nice! I love warbringer too. The first time I saw them was at a kreator show....after that I got hooked and got there albums, eps everything. I have seen warbringer a total of 5 times. The last time I saw them though was the best cause it was there own headlining show. It was epic! I got socked in the nose while going apeshit in the pits, forgot what song, but it sucked. Its too long of a story that i'm to lazy type about. But long story short I got nailed hard, and I was bleeding profusely. I quickly ran to the bathroom cause I was worried it was broken...not broken but hit pretty hard, I was bleeding all over my face but I went back into the pits. Then people at the show where complaining of someone bleeding on there face and getting blood everywhere:tp:

The security pulled me out of the pits and thought i was some crazy heroin fiend and started patting me down and pushed me to the wall asking me all sorts of question like if I have aids and shit... also cause my face freaked him out . I eventually calmed him down and told him I was sober as a duck WHICH I WAS AT THE TIME, and explained the whole situation to him....He felt bad about it at the end of it and told me to go wash my face and jam some tissue paper up my nose to cool the bleeding or I would get kicked out of the show if I decide not to cooperate and let my self bleed and leave stains all over the venue...

I was in the bathroom for about 15-20 minutes washing my face and trying to stop the bleeding so I missed some portion of the show :(......BUT then I got back and managed to get even closer to the show and chilled by the side stage where you weren't allowed but the security was chill with me cause he felt bad about what happend. I forgot to mention this venue was EXTREMELY SECURITY FRIENDLY!! They would even join in the pits to make sure no one is getting too violent or pulling shady moves like what happend to me :( Sadly there was no security around when i got socked in the nose during WB.....But the best part is alex came down the stage and noticed me on the side stage going ape shit and headbanging so he just came down and rocked out with me for a portion of a song forgot which one but it was awesome and then gave me a high five and went back on the stage to finish the song it was epic!!!:rocker:
I've talk to John Kevil a shitload of times at shows. Hes one of the nicest people I've ever met, no joke.

When me and my friends went to thrasho de mayo they where sold out once we got there...but John was just chillin outside by himself and noticed us and we explained to him how we drove over 2 hours to get to the show. So he introduced us to one of the members of witchhaven who was selling tickets and he sold us all tickets for 5 bucks!! Tickets where 30 at the door....and the show was sold out...actually it oversold...but yeah, John is a kick ass dude.

Julie Christmas

I don't know why, but I remember thinking this album was going to be maybe more laid back and / or mellow than anything from Made Out of Babies or Battle of Mice.

What the fuck was I thinking?!? :wtf:

I was obviously mistaken, and I couldn't be happier about it. :D This is classic Julie right here. Sweet Satan, I love this woman's work.

EDIT: OK, so I wasn't crazy. From Noisecreep (http://www.noisecreep.com/2010/07/29/julie-christmas-the-bad-wife-new-album/):

The singer decided to go solo in order to keep herself creatively stimulated, saying, "When we started working on 'The Bad Wife,' I was involved in a few different projects that were rough, angry and involved a lot of screaming. I won't ever be able to separate myself from this kind of performance and I don't want to. I do know that, in day-to-day life, I get overwhelmed with emotion about things that have nothing to do with anger, just like everyone else. The project started as a way to show the importance of other feelings, like love. Once the heavier projects ended, though, I noticed that the songs on 'The Bad Wife' started to get heavier. One of the last songs we did is a screamer involving a James O'Brien Yeti Special."

...but Julie still is. (Thank the fuck Christ. :D)

You should check out there older work in the 80s. That stuff was godly. I reccomend you check out the song "Dehydrated" off there 89' LP "Consuming Impulse" and you'll see what I mean. I was fortunate enough to see Pestilence minus Martin Van D. on vocals back in June with Warbringer and Vital Remains as the opening bands. Was a pretty kick ass show none the less...it was just a bit embarrassing over the fact that only 25-30 people showed for the show. But everyone that was there went apeshit and moshing which made up for it.

Warbringer, Vital Remains and Pestilence. Im not shocked that only 25-30 people showed. Was Pestilence even that well known in the late 80's and early 90's? Resurrection Macabre was their first album in 16 years, so Im no surprised how little the crowd was.

Pestilence where legends in the Death Metal genre back in the late 80s. As for the crowed and them being back after 16 years....to tell you the truth the tour was really badly managed and promoted....The only reason I knew they where having a show was because The venue I was at(it was for another metal show which was way more well known and had well over 700-800 attendees)had people passing fliers for the pestilence show...also They announced the tour like One month before going on there U.S trek. Most bands usually give the heads up like....I don't know?...5-6 Months Even to a year prior before heading out??

They might be lengends in death metal, but still, sometimes when bands take time off like that, their popularity will decrease.

Maiden didn't write that song to sound like video game music, i.e. lots of palm muting and completely undynamic production. I guess he made it sound like Jon Schaffer, which, fine, whatever, but it can't touch the original.

I love your loyalty, but I can't always agree with it. Keep in mind that I am a huge Gilmour fan. He is probably my favorite guitarist. But The Wall tour was brilliant. I saw it twice and it was amazing both times. You know that I am not a guitarist, but I thought Dave Kilminster did an excellent job on Gilmour's solos. And The Dark Side Of The Moon tour was amazing a couple of years ago also. I am really glad that I got to see those tours. I don't think Floyd will ever tour again so this was the next best thing. You should have taken advantage of the opportunity while you could.

Same goes for Alice In Chains. You are missing some great shows. ;)
