Not with the way things have been going for the last 4-5 years. Nowadays, we're lucky if an album leaks a week ahead of time. And usually that's because the band streams the entire thing on their myspace. Damn, I miss the old days. :(

The difference is watermarking. When pre-release copies were given to journalists and radio stations on CD they would just rip them and "leak" them. Now everything is watermarked, so if they do that they can be traced and prosecuted by the label.

Regarding leaks:
I experience everything from 2 months in advance to 2 weeks after the first release date, haha. The Maiden album probably won't leak until days before release, due to severe crack down on it. I wouldn't expect to see it anywhere before the Thursday or Friday before release. I have no problem with this being that Maiden are one of the few (if not only) bands I have a strict "no leak" policy for.

Well, I got the new Megadeth about a week and a half ahead of time and the new Nevermore a month before the release date. So it should be up somewhere before it's released. I'll still buy the album but there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of it being available to listen to before the street date.

El Dorado wasn't anything special so that certainly didn't bring my hopes up. It took me more than a year to get around to listening to AMOLAD, I foresee the same with this.

Me too. I don't do downloads in any way. But I don't buy them in shops. They just don't exist beyond the charts, and the prices are terrible. I have to buy everything online.
