My feedback: you're insane.

 Well, the logistics aren't the trouble. The watching a movie that I may or may not like almost every day for almost a year, sure, that's gonna get tough at some point. Pushing through the pain though!

Well, I was gonna have 1.5 to 3.5 hours a day that wasn't spent working or sleeping anyway, might as well watch a movie.

ALSO I know the list changes. I'm sure Inception will knock something off. And old shit gets a surge behind it too to knock stuff off out of nowhere. I'm doing the list as of July 2nd, 2010 though. Saved the list in a file and I'm keeping it static. Too hard to keep an eye on the changes.

Starting tomorrow, yep. Or very very late tonight.

And no, no order at all. The order in which I watch them or decide to write about them on off-days. Each entry will include where it's ranked on the list though. :fist:

I just checked the list. I've seen 85, most of those are in the top 150.

It's a good thing this is gonna take so long; some of them (How To Train Your Dragon, Kick-Ass) aren't out on DVD yet

Kind of in line with what the blog says, how is Toy Story 3 #6? I'm guessing it's gonna drop quite a bit once the hype wears off, cause I didn't think it was that good.

Yeah, that's ridiculously high, but I did love it and think more and more that it might be the best Pixar movie. I'll think of more clever things to say when it comes time to blog it. ;)

There's about 50 Hitchcock spy movies on here, I'm sure after six or seven I'll rupture a blood vessel in text form.

Yes, Hitchcock is all over that list, but for good reason. I don't know I'll have to watch it again.

What films on that list are you most anticipating?

Tough call since I've seen a bunch already and a lot of those are among my favorite movies. But I'm looking forward to the westerns I haven't seen yet mostly, I suppose. The Wild Bunch, Once Upon a Time in the West, High Noon, and The Gold Rush.

The Wild Bunch is awesome. Once Upon a Time in the West is extremely good but don't go into it thinking it's like Leone's "Dollars Trilogy" much slower and more serious. High Noon is very good but doesn't really feel like a traditional spaghetti western since there is very little action. Never seen The Gold Rush, so can't give any insight on that one.

For some reason I never like Toy Story even when I was really little. And the Incredibles isn't good. I never understood why everyone jizzes over Pixar, most of them suck. I'll take real animation over it any day.

Edit: Also bring my list down to 138, I thought Notorious was that shitty Biggie Smalls movie that came out last year and when I went to bitch about that I realized it was in reference to the 1949 film. Haven't seen that one.

I'm just saying that at the very least, these are 250 movies that thousands of people - people who bother to get on the internet to talk about movies, no less - have a very high opinion of. That's reason enough to give them all a watch and a day's worth of discussion. 'Sall I'm saying.

This is an awesome idea man. As a movie fanatic I have been meaning to something along the lines of this for a long time. The IMDB Top 250 is a hell of an obstacle to tackle but it seems like it would be amazing to watch all 250 and see what you think of each films that is considered by people all over the internet to be the finest of all time. I myself have only seen 92 of the Top 250 and that is a kind of a sad number for someone that watches as many movies as me. I can not wait to read what you have to say about these films.

It WAS a reason to watch them all. Then, as often happens, the general masses found out about it, so it's now irrelevant because the brainless have wrecked it. I'm stunned none of the Twilight or Potter movies are in there.

Eventually it all rights itself, of course. Over time the ridiculous entries that found their way in through a flurry of activity upon release don't have the longevity to stick around, but still, at any given time there are several movies in it that blatantly shouldn't be.

Still, should be a mostly fun 250 days.

Gotta say though, you should have come up with a better name for the url. The Brad 250 sounds like one of those porn record attempts... :eyes:

Totally agree. I mean, IMDb users fucking hate the Twilight series, so that's not a real risk, but I do see your point. And sure, Kick-Ass and How to Train Your Dragon probably don't belong (although I loved Kick-Ass and expect to be quite entertained by HTTYD). I'll probably have similar comments to what you're saying now in the blog entries for those anyhow.

And as for the porn thing, well, at least if times get tough I already have dibs on the URL. :eyes:

I remember having the conversation about seeing all the best movies of all time with a guy at my old job once. I can't remember how many I've seen, but it's not many. Maybe not even as many as you'd seen prior to this little escapade. But I must say some, regardless of how good they are, just don't interest me. 'Casablanca', for instance. I just don't care.

I will catch up on some though. Some of the westerns for sure.

I don't like them. I'm confused as to why people do, not as to why they are on the list, assuming it's based on popularity. Schindler's List is the worst "best movie of all time" I have ever seen. It wouldn't be terrible without the hype behind it but it was really fucking disappointing. Steven Spielberg should have stopped at Jaws.
And Stat Wars is fun, but they aren't great films.

FYI for everyone complaining about the list/movies on the list, for each blog entry I'm doing "The Good, The Bad, and The Skinny", the third of which sees me deciding if I think the movie should be in the Top 250 at all. So, y'know, it's not blind faith in the list that has me doing this project. ;)

1) Cool idea. I don't have the patience to watch old movies (coz I'm lame.)
2) I would imagine that there will be days you see movies in the theater or watch a DVD that isn't on the list. You should do an "Off Day Review" of those if they aren't on the list, and your thoughts on if they should be.
3) If you actually do this, it would be a good career piece. Get your name out there and have a massive blog to show off your writing skills.

Good job dude.

Probably do a post including a brief list of movies I would have included, and a post about what my new personal top 25 is having now seen all of these, since it may be radically different. Then just leave it up and not use it, I'd imagine.

edit: isn't there also a 2nd Miyazaki movie in the top 250 though :eyes:

he so popular

Actually there's two others, Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro.

Grave of the Fireflies is also on there but I can't tell the difference between one Japanese animator and another lol.

Lol, it's actually the same animation studio, just a different director so that's why they all look similar I'd say, haha.
