We in Buffalo area had a rare event here. A 5.5 earthquake. I'm kind of twisted so I thought it was pretty cool. Just sitting at work minding my business and things start shaking violently. Lasted about 15 - 20 seconds. Nothing cataclysmic. The news said the epicenter was north of Ottawa so I figured most of the northeast and those parts of Canada felt it pretty good. Probably michigan too. Sorry if anyone got hurt or died.

We felt it here in West Central/Southwest Ohio. My grandma's office building was shaking. I didn't feel it personally, but yeah....intense stuff.

Pitchfork gives the #earthquake a 5.5, calls it "derivative, clearly influenced by more seminal eastern quakes"

True, but let's trade the winters we get here for the weather out west and see how you handle that:D

It's such a rare occurence here, that's why it's news worthy. I did feel it as well. My whole floor shook for about 10 seconds or so. I wasn't sure what it was at first. Sometimes we get some strong winds around here that can rattle things pretty good and that's what I originally thought it was. But I realized it couldn't have been wind because it just felt different than that. Turns out it was a small quake. Nothing happened around here as far as I know, we just got a little shake and that was it.

Still an intresting and odd event to take place around this area. Buffalo is actually on top of a major fault line. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.
