I just got an email that I have presale access to a Coheed/PT/Dear Hunter show in Cleveland on August 26th, so I'm guessing this is a full-on tour that hasn't been announced yet. Some people are gonna be psyched, right?

Not sure if I'm gonna go or not yet. New ones from Coheed and PT are their worst in both cases, and I'm not familiar with The Dear Hunter (although from what I gather based on their fans and what I have heard, this tour makes a HELL of a lot of sense).

I think I'm definitely going to be at the Columbus show. I'm sure if I tried I could warm up to Year of the Black Rainbow and The Incident a bit, and considering what a great show PT put on in 2007 and the fact that C&C are near the top of my "to see" list, not to mention that the Columbus date is my last Friday before classes start at IU, I'd be stupid not to go.

Cool. Tix are only 25 which is sort of shocking to me. I think Drew's definitely gonna want to come as well, Coheed and PT are like his two favorite bands.

There's a Porcupine Tree date at the Warfield on August 11t I think. No Coheed.

Bah, looks like Columbus is Coheed and Cambria with Circa Survive, whereas Cleveland is still Coheed/Porcupine Tree/Dear Hunter. Two hours closer for waaaay worse support. Tough decision.

It's a PT/C&C co-headliner if that makes any difference.

I'd take the extra time out of your day to see the better music, but that's just me.

Yeah, the "how much fun will I have" arrow is pointed at Cleveland, but Columbus has the benefit of a cheaper ticket, a shorter drive, and being a Friday night instead of a Thursday night. I'll have this figured out by Monday.

I often think of what is really important, the little inconveniences or the show itself?

Sure, it's more convenient for it to be closer, less expensive, and on a better day, but the show itself is much better.

This is a strange tour. I would think that the majority of the PT fans will be leaving after their set.

Not sure I understand this. Would most Pink Floyd fans leave after their set if they were opening for Rush? I see this as similar.

:(

And the misconception that Coheed and Cambria is some sort of emo/indie/pop-rock band continues...

Check out No World for Tomorrow, listen to all the Rush and Iron Maiden influence in the instruments, pretend it's Geddy Lee singing, and tell me again that this tour doesn't make sense.

All that said, I'm going to the Coheed only date rather than the one with Porcupine Tree because I'm afraid of the set being disc one of the Incident and nothing else, in which case I'd really rather not see them at all.

I have no opinion on Muse, but I am totally defending Coheed in the same way that Muse fans defend Muse, I admit it. Coheed are definitely proggier than Muse though, at least in my opinion.

Didn't they say Rush wasn't an influence?

They're liars if they did.

And somehow I don't think titling a song "2113" helps their case.

C&C RULE!!! A tour with them, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Stratovarious, Avantasia, and Wildestarr would REALLY RULE!!!

Is this the date in Columbus? You ever been to that venue and/or can you give me any details about it? I haven't seen C&C yet, and I'm strongly considering going to this show.

One major problem is that the show is on the same day as my tentative move-in date, but I'd really like to see C&C :hmm:

The Porcupine Tree date is up in Cleveland. Nautica Pavilion I think used to be Nautica Stage which is in the Flats and is basically a parking lot with metal bleachers. Columbus is at the LC Pavilion which is very nice and has both an indoor stage and outdoor amphitheater.

The venue is one of my favorite two or three venues EVER, and you should definitely go. It has an outdoor and indoor portion, and they're using the outdoor which to this date is the only outdoor shows I've seen with sound that was so good that it could have been indoors. I've seen Queensryche, Rob Zombie twice, The Decemberists, Flogging Molly, Dream Theater, and maybe a few others there. Can't recommend it enough.
