During Clutch’s set at the Crocodile Rock in Allentown PA this past Saturday (19), vocalist Neil Fallon announced that the band would be recording an acoustic EP for release later in the year. The band had debuted an acoustic set the prior week at the Bonnaroo Festival, and encored with some of the material on Saturday. Vocalist Neil Fallon told the sold-out crowd they’d be heading into the studio to record and thanked them for “letting them practice.”

The band will be going to J. Robbins Magpie Cage Studio in between July 4 and the beginning of their July 16 European tour to record approximately half a dozen songs. Some of the titles being considered for the EP include a song called “Fixin’ To Die” (which they played on Saturday), as well as stripped-down takes of “Abraham Lincoln,” “Electric Worry,” “Regulator” and “Tight Like That.”
So Clutch is doing the Cynic thing...

Kinda, only going acoustic isn't what Cynic did - they remixed their stuff. Still, I get what you're saying about milking old material. But it's not like Clutch haven't put out four studio albums, a double-disc live album, a rarities collection and a live DVD in the last six years or anything, though! Not prolific enough for you?

 I'm not saying they're milking anything, just maybe 1 or 2 new songs and some re-recorded old stuff.

Yeah, I'll buy this, and I wasn't even really feeling the acoustic encore earlier this month. I'm a slave to Clutch. :D

Hell yeah! My mom and grandma are big fans of the show and they told me it was gonna be on so I watched it the first time it aired. Duff seems like a really cool motherfucker, too. :rocker:

I watched it the first time it was on too! Pretty cool Neil's sister is one of the creators and Duff does seem really cool!

I will too if they actually release it properly. If they just do what everyone else seems too keen to do with EPs these days and make it available as a download only then fuck 'em.

I hope they actually release it cause Strange Cousins From The West probably has some of the coolest packaging I have ever seen.
