If I had the money to spare to head all the way out to California I would go. But unfortunately I don't right now. I do wanna eventually visit the gravesite at some point. Maybe i'll plan a future vaction there and make it one of my stops.

This is a good point. I don't know if they've made mention of it, but it would be great if they decided to bury him closer to where he was from - meaning generally the New England area. That would make it a lot easier for me to plan a road trip around it.

I thought that myself as well. If they were gonna do that I could probably make the trip since it's not that far from me. He was born in New Hampshire but moved to Courtland, NY when he was young. Too bad it wasn't there I could easily make that work.

But he lived in California for many years and he probably considered that home. So it makes sense to be buried there. It will also be easier for his wife and close friends he had out there to visit his grave.

Yeah that's what my friend said, and I told him that walking up to musicians and talking to them and asking them for a picture will be in bad taste. I would take any opportunity to get a photo with Iommi or Butler except in this situation. You have to go to pay respects, not get a pre NAMM show.

I don't get where you guys are taking this away from what Fe Maiden said...

I'm with him, it's just cool to think how much of the metal community, both performers and fans, will likely be present at the event to honor Dio. If I could afford to, I'd definitely go to LA for it.

I was thinking about this exact thing. If I went, I wouldn't feel comfortable talking to any of the musicians, not even dare take a picture with one of them. I love Sabbath, but the funeral of one of their most important members isn't the place for a meet and greet.

I don't think many musicians will be there at all. There will be a proper funeral for him that they'll all be at.

This is the "something to keep the public away from us when we do it for real" event.

Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, Hollywood Hills 6300 Forest Lawn Drive WBC to picket this public memorial to remind you who worship that old Serpent, Satan, that your time is very short. You know 67 year old, Satan-worshiping (or at least one of their enablers) Ronnie James Dio (of showing his devil horns to the world each time he goes in public) Black Sabbath fame is dead, right? We'll be there! Just because the chances of any of God's elect being amongst this group of heavy metal sycophants is slim to none does not mean they should not get some good words. Yes, it is true that Ozzy Osbourne did "accidentally" bite off the head of a bat, but THAT is the least of their sins (little nasties!), they currently do not do that, but they throw raw meat to the audience and encourage violence of EVERY FORM! Here you have the list of admitted sins of this now dead and in hell pervert: 1) He hates his neighbor(s) starting with Ozzy Osbourne, and continuing down to his pornography star niece Gen Padova! 2) He hates God. Pay especial attention to the fact that he changed his original sir name from Padova to Dio, which means God in Italian. 3)Ronnie the simpleton enabled, and encouraged Sorceries: everything he was about including the little finger horn thing (he got this from his mother which is an incantation to ward off the "evil eye") to the drugs, bloody raw meat and his fellowship with those pentagon necklace wearing freakish band members. Yes, Ronnie James Padova (NOT DIO) is currently residing in hell. When all those who worship him and his false gods meet him in hell it will be just like this: Isaiah 2:12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: Isaiah 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. Praise God all ye, His people. The Great Day of the Lord draws nigh. AMEN!

WOW

I wish this was anywhere on the East Coast, I would be there. I am sure Dio will be buried in California, close to their home, and close to Wendy. If I am ever out that way, I'll surely try to visit his grave, as I do each time I'm in Florida for Criss Oliva.

Yes, they protest at the funerals of dead soldiers (you know, who are usually 20 year old kids) with the logic that God is punishing America with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan since we are so tolerant of "the gays" and because of our sinful culture. No, I'm not making that up.

It's not all Christians whom are like this, just the crazy radical ones that interpret The Bible as literally as they can and jump on everything that they see as wrong or different and label it as evil because they "think" that God does. I myself am a Catholic and damn proud to be both a Christian and a metalhead, but it's idiots like this who just can't leave things alone or mind they're own business who really piss me off and give people of faith a bad name. The church and religion themselves are in a lot of cases corrupt, but I find that there is a strong contrast between people who follow God and people who follow the church. What a completely ridiculous and absent-minded collaboration. Go out and protest something worth protesting, idiots.

Well, Fred Phelps and his church are very rational people. I'm sure that once we explain that he isn't related to a porn star, they will understand completely and call off the protest.

I hate the WBC so so much since I first heard about them last year and I hope they really do die in a horrific way, but my biggest fear of this is that it will turn into a riot or a huge protest against them outside the service that may ruin the event for everyone else. I mean, your average metal fan isn't the most patient person in the world to things like this. This has disaster written all over it.

What I wish will happen is that they protest the service, we metal fans unite and still pay our respects to Dio, and everything remains somewhat peaceful. What will most likely happen is a riot amongst metal fans against the WBC, making us look just as bad as them.
