Venue - Newport Music Hall
Openers - Caverns, Danko Jones
Source - Me, myself and I

Note:I didn't show up till Danko Jones was almost done so I have no setlist for them or Caverns.

Before I get into my thoughts I honestly think there were two reasons it wasn't completely packed. First being a holiday weekend and the HOF/Priestess/Black Cobra/ Bison BC show down the road at Skully's. It's very possible had HOF/Priestess/Black Cobra/Bison BC opened for Clutch the show would have sold out.

I'm glad I showed up when Danko Jones was leaving. Lead singer: "All right this is our last song and next up is Clutch the band everyone came to see." Multiple people in the crowd:" Get off the fucking stage you suck!"

Picked up two shirts one charcoal with the crawling guy and the radio tower and the other black with the creature with Abe Lincoln's head on the front.

Great show and I finally heard "Spacegrass" live again since the Orange 9mm/Fu Manchu back in '96. I really have new fondness for "Freakanomics", Amazing Kreskin" and "Let a Poor Man Be" after hearing them live for the first time. Especially, Kreskin that slow at the end is nuts! :rocker: I got to finally hear "Dragonfly" extended go straight into "Child of the City". The crowd and me really love hearing "Spacegrass" and "Rock n Roll Outlaw". Neil thanked Columbus for being so good to them all these years (they have been playing the Newport since '94). The band was really on fire tonight Neil had tons of energy, Tim was playing the great riffs, Dan really doesn't move much but he was right on point with JP. Jean Paul he was awesome half the time when I go to a show I find myself just watching the man play the skins a true master!

Spacegrass is worth the price of admission. Still one of the greatest live songs I've ever seen. Pretty sweet set by the looks of it, I'd love to see Pure Rock Fury someday.

Oh hell yea it really made my month!

PRF is great live. :rocker:

I really want to see Piledriver, Passive Restraints, High Caliber Consecrator, Arcadia, Wake of the Swollen Goat, Ghost, Guild of Mute Assassins, Willie Nelson, Release the Kraken, Bottoms Up Socrates, Smoke Bansee, 7 jam, Wishbone, Brazenhead, amongst others.

I highly doubt I will ever see Passive Restraints, High Caliber Consecrator, or Arcadia since they were from Passive Restraints and Pitchfork respectively. I would say the likely hood of Clutch playing those is about the same as "Binge and Purge".

However, I hold out hope on the others. :)

Ghost is extremely rare since it requires an acoustic guitar for part of the song. Willie, Socrates, and Mute Assassins have been played very little unfortunately. Kraken, Bansee, 7 jam, Wishbone, and Brazenhead are fairly rare as well.

Spacegrass = The bee's knees, the frosting on the cake, the oreo's white stuff, etc. When it is performed live, it serves as a pardon for any other song Clutch may have overlooked in the setlist. Similar to a get-out-of-jail-free card in Monopoly.

^ That's a very good analogy and yes it's all true. :)

8 days away!!!! Will be #6 time seeing them. First off Spacegrass was closer last I saw them. First off yes it is the get out of jail free. Not sure how I've heard Spacegrass once but Pure Rock Fury zero. That's about the only song I've never heard. I still think I'm the only one who doesn't understand why "Abraham Lincoln" is a good song. Oh well. They are still one of the most solid live bands out there!!!

Hell yea it's always a good time! I believe that was the second time I heard "Pure Rock Fury". If you go to enough shows I'm sure you'll hear it sometime. Abe Lincoln is like Spacegrass 2009 with not as great lyrics think about it that way. Seriously "JESUS ON THE DASHBOARD" just can't be beat. I think they need to start playing Abe then go into "I Have the Body of John Wilkes Booth".

Lol I would hope by time #6 I'd hear it but I don't even recall seeing them even playing PRF in years. Now John Wilkes booth. I could totally get down for that no doubt!!!!

Yes, I see what you're saying it's really a crap shoot anytime you go to Clutch show really. Hopefully you get to hear it this time though. Hell yes I saw a show with Sea of Destruction and JWB a few years ago both are great live! Probably one of the top ones was Toledo last year where I heard Shogun, Prison Planet, Elephant Riders, House that Peterbilt, Texan Book of the Dead and Animal Farm!
