Definitely Joey, but John is also good.

I think John is a better singer vocally but their best material is with Joey. It's almost a tie with me. But since John doesn't have a vote yet i'll go with him if we're talking vocal skills.

Joey because the material's stronger. It would be difficult to judge John against the 80s shit without thinking about how much better it is than his albums.

Going for John Bush because I love him and I think he's very underrated. Sound of White Noise is easily one of my favorite Anthrax albums, no question.

Absolutely no question of Joey. John Bush is a fantastic singer, but in Anthrax, I feel the material is some of the weakest bullshit ever made in the history of thrash metal (of course along with Metallica's input of course). Granted that's more Scott Ian's fault than his, but still. And Joey was always more of a fit for their style of thrash, Bush is more of a balls out old school heavy metal kind of guy.

The way I see it, Bush in Armored Saint= :rocker:, Bush in Anthrax= :nonono:

I don't look at the stuff they made with Bush as thrash at all, and that's probably why I'm far more open to it's qualities. No, it's not good thrash. But it's also not meant to be, and I like it for what it is meant to be. Good metal.

Just because a band that did make thrash makes something that isn't thrash, doesn't make the new thing bad.

SOWN is one of my favorite Anthrax albums as well... you know, after Joey albums like Among the Living and Persistence of Time. ;)

Your last point is very valid (and I am very well aware of said point), but our fundamental difference is that I don't think it's even good metal in the first place. While we agree it's not good thrash, I can't even listen to it on a "this is good metal" basis. It doesn't strike me as even that, in my opinion of course. If you believe otherwise, then there's nothing to argue. Different tastes.

This ain't a thread about what albums we like better it's about which singer you like better, if Bush was with Anthrax from the beginning they'd have been in a different tier, a peerless tier (Mustaine, Hetfield, and Chuck Billy ain't got on John Bush).

John always sounded like Eddie Vedder to me.

More like the other way around John was singing like that well before anyone knew about Eddie Vedder's voice. I never thought of it before but they do have some simularities. But they have more differences I think.

I always thought Bush had more emotion and feeling in what he sang and I never felt that with Joey. True, Joey fit them well back in the 80s but the material was so strong between STD and POT that any average singer would've looked better than what he was performing those songs. As much as I love the material with Joey, all he is was an average singer who lucked out and got to sing on a band who was writting fantastic material. Thus, making him seem like a lot better vocalist than he really was. Live, Joey always seemed off vocally, i'm not sure what it was but from the songs i've heard live from that era he just didn't seem like he ever found his groove as a live singer. I never felt Joey's heart was in it but I always felt that John's was 100 percent. When it comes to live performances, John always puts everything into it not only vocally but as an all around great frontman with great stage presence and command of the crowd.

Anthrax has always been one of my favorites and while they abandoned the traditional thrash metal sound when John joined, there is still some very good material there. John never seems to get the respect he deserves sometimes so I figured i'd give him his due here:rocker:

Out of the options Joey, but I think Neil is by far the best.
