Actually they haven't come to Pittsburgh on any of their tours since 2004. So I haven't seen them since then, and I would like to.

Ah .. good for you then! :)

I never thought they would have skipped any city/state because they did two legs of the tour and I was assuming they would have covered every market. They did 9 shows in California alone!

Yeah well the Cali shows all sold out so you can't blame them for playing so many shows over here, but yes they should have played in other places like Pittsburgh as well!

If King Diamond play, I charge each and every one of you who makes it to an Ozzfest show to find him and instruct him to accept the fact that THE REST OF THE WORLD STILL EXISTS.

Clown-faced little fucker.

Were getting a new Hockey Arena in the later part of the year though, so I would think were going to end up with some bigger acts coming through, which is good. Rush is playing there in September.

Why? What exactly did he do?

Stopped touring everywhere else.

Hasn't toured here either. That whole thing with his back or whatever it was.

King Diamond might be the only thing that would drag me to Ozzfest. I really, really don't want to go, but the King is on my top 5 "need to see" list.

ravenheart

You at least had tours in '03, '06 and '08. We got one show in '06.

Sanitarium78

Hasn't toured here either. That whole thing with his back or whatever it was.

Exactly. He had to cancel his whole tour for his last album because of some herniated discs in his back were giving him too much pain. So he hasn't done a full tour anywhere since 'The Puppet Master' which was in 2003-2004.

Also, i'm fairly cetrian he has very little to do with where he's booked to play. Most artists don't as far as I know. That's an issue ravenheart needs to take up with King's management, not the man himself.

Ozzfest has been to KC pretty much every year since the mid 90's except the one year that Iron Maiden was one it (FUCK) so I have high hopes for them coming back.

ravenheart
04-30-2010, 01:12 PM
That's an issue ravenheart needs to take up with King's management, not the man himself.

Specific venues/cities, usually not. But broadly, he chooses whether or not he wants to tour outside of the United States or not.

Just ask Rob Zombie and The Allman Brothers Band.

Additionally, it's not usually management who get to decide either. It's local promoters.

http://www.blsnation.com/bls-news/2010-ozzfest-info-announced-tonight/902

More than 15 years after OZZY OSBOURNE debuted OZZFest, the defining blueprint for hard rock tours and festivals returns this August in six American cities with an explosive bill co-headlined by OZZY and, in their first-ever OZZFest appearance, Mötley Crüe–touring together for the first time with OZZY since he invited the group on their now legendary 1984 arena tour. Expect the energy to go way off the charts at the all-day extravaganza of music and deranged merriment.

The 2010 OZZFest–back after taking a year off in 2009 and the 2008 one-off stadium spectacular in Dallas, TX with OZZY and Metallica headlining–will kick off August 14 in San Bernardino (the birthplace of the first OZZFest in 1996) and then make stops in Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT, Camden, NJ, Pittsburgh, PA and Boston, MA.

The main stage will feature full sets from Ozzy, Mötley Crüe and Rob Halford (who last appeared on OZZFest in 2004 with Judas Priest), performing songs from his solo career along with material from Judas Priest and Fight. DevilDriver and Nonpoint will round out the main stage line-up. Second stage headliners and six-time OZZFest veterans Black Label Society will be joined by Drowning Pool, Kingdom of Sorrow, and Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Saviours and Kataklysm.

Each OZZFest date will include 13 bands on two stages with music beginning at 1:00 PM. In addition, concert-goers can once again visit the OZZFest “Village of the Damned” featuring a mix of interactive activities, shopping and entertainment throughout the venue concourses.

These OZZFest dates mark the first concerts in the U.S. in connection with the June 15 release of SCREAM (Epic Records), the OZZFest’s founder’s first album in three years and 10th studio album overall. OZZY’s band consists of his OZZY’s new guitar player, Gus G., bassist Blasko, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.

The 2010 OZZFEST dates are as follows:

DATE CITY VENUE
Sat, Aug 14 San Bernardino, CA San Manuel Amphitheater
Tue, Aug 17 Chicago, IL First Midwest Bank Amp.
Thurs, Aug 19 Pittsburgh, PA First Niagara Pavilion
Sat , Aug 21 Hartford, CT Comcast Theater
Sun, Aug 22 Camden, NJ Susquehanna
Tue, Aug 24 Boston, MA Comcast Center

Ozzy, Motley Crue, Halford, Black Label Society, Skeletonwitch, Kataklysm, and Goatwhore?

This is MUCH better than I expected.

I'm at the Boston date, almost definitely.

Agreed, I assume this info is legit. Sounds about right at least. Not many dates, but a good mix of bands.

Metal_Head
04-30-2010, 03:45 PM
Is that true? Hmm. Doesn't fit all the other rumors, and only 6 dates? At least it's hitting Boston. I'll probably go.

gmatts

Check out the link to confirm. I googled for info and this is what came up on the BLS site. No Metallica or Tool unfortunately.

Only headliner I haven't seen is Motley Crue. There's a damn good reason for that too. I will not be making another trip to Il this year.

Crionics

Meh Skeletonwitch is the only band I'd really want to see out of all of those..

Metal_Head

I'll probably go to this regardless of my disappointment. Motley Crue, what the fuck?

gmatts
04-30-2010, 03:51 PM
Devildriver headlining the second stage would have been a little more fun. They may lose some of their effect on the main stage.

JuuKun
04-30-2010, 03:52 PM
Last I heard Crue were supposed to be taking the summer off to write new material, so it's possible that Metallica were supposed to do it and they're the reason the announcement is delayed.

Also, while I know Firewind wouldn't have fit in much, I'm actually sort of surprised they're not on because of Gus G. I would have liked to see them.

If this is the lineup, it's pretty much a let down after all the rumors and wait. And, of course, it's not even coming to FL. Oh well...

I wouldn't doubt a band skipping 1 or 2 dates from a tour to get on another, but idk.
If this is real, I'm not fucking going.

I'm talking about ditching the last dates of Mayhem to get on Ozzfest.

I can't really believe this is true, Suffocation isn't on it (Wolverine said they were for sure). I would be extremely disappointed if it is :(
I'm guessing it will be announced around 5 pst/8 est.

Waaaay back my myspace had "death to emo" or something of that nature on it, and they started running smart ads. They would be like "Buy Black Label Society Merchandise", "For fans of ___, ___'s new album", "Find Emo Girls"

Rob Halford is playing the Ballroom in SF July 17. No other dates, bands or info, but I'm guessing this will end up as a tour.

I'm going for more of the experience of going to Ozzfest before it's dead. Exodus just put some killer icing on the cake though.

I'm excited for most of the sidestage bands as well as Halford, Crue(ish) and Ozzy.
