March Madness: the final stretch of bad sports time before baseball.

:eyes:

Basketball is my favorite sport, and I know I'm kind of alone there, but I didn't know there were people who absolutely didn't like any of the sports going on in March. Most people align themselves in either the basketball or hockey camp.

yea cause watching a bunch of linebackers run into each other and fall down for 10 seconds and then stop and do it again is really more entertaining.

:tp: Maybe you've missed the last ten years? Let me update you.

The NBA has taken painstaking lengths to overhaul its image, and it's the most active league in the community. You can look up NBA Cares, the charity work organization that players have to participate in. Sure, some of them have a lot of tattoos or play dirty on the court, but I'd be willing to wager that a far bigger percentage of NFL players have a criminal record. It's honestly just an ignorant and inherently racist viewpoint that you're harboring with no empirical evidence.

Yes, more interesting than a bunch of guys walking around, watching one dude throw a ball really fast and another dude swinging at it (and missing 7-9 times out of 10.) So interesting....I wonder which player is going to fill his friend's hat with whipped cream....because the pranks and the occasional home run contest throughout the season (which, we have found out, are driven by steroid use) are the only interesting parts about watching baseball.

Alright, well, take away where I said the two words "inherently racist" and the rest of my post is totally valid if you insist that that part isn't. The NBA is probably the most clean-cut, community-oriented, big-hearted league in the world - and not just big-hearted because of all the seven-footers with palpitations and murmurs.

It's change a LOT since the 90s. I agree that there was a very thuggish era, but it's over, and if the world's view of the NBA is seriously what you guys believe then David Stern should just resign because all the hard work he's put into cleaning up the league has been in vain. It's easy to believe the convenient stereotypes or act like the entire league is made up of J.R. Smiths and Chris Andersens, but that simply isn't the reality of it. Again, I implore you to look up NBA Cares and realize that this is a league of sportsmanship and community with relatively few exceptions.

I haven't been able to watch a pro basketball game since the Ron Artest incident.

That was the kicker for a lot of people, but the league is radically different from what it was then. And of course I don't like Ron Artest. I don't really like anyone if they aren't sportsmanlike. But I've loved the NBA since 1996 and I'm not turning my back on it, and I will defend it in its current state to the grave.

I've found that making a bracket is really easy if you 1) Pick the school that you go to, 2) Don't pick the school of your friends, 3) Pick your favorite state between the two options, and 4) Go with the lower number when you don't know.
