Why the fuck is Vital Remains opening for Carnifex?!

Anyways, pretty sweet lineup save for Carnifex.

They're actually really good, IMO. I'd much rather watch them than Carnifex.

Outside of All Shall Perish, there isn't much else I want to hear so I doubt I'll be going. One disappointment, Ozzfest to go....

VITAL FUCKING REMAINS :rocker: :rocker: :rocker:

Decapitated, Cephalic Carnage, and Decrepit Birth will be awesome too. Hopefully this comes to Pittsburgh... or near it...

Fuck yes Decapitated headlining! I find it hard to believe Vital Remains is as low as they are, though.

It'll be cool to see The Red Chord again, I like them live, and while I'm not a fan of either Decrepit Birth or Cephalic Carnage, there are worse bands...like Veil of Maya and Carnifex. Not into The Faceless but they're not awful, and I've heard good things about Animals as Leaders but haven't checked them out for myself.

It's not the best lineup ever, but I'll probably go.

DECAPITATED - Never seen em before so I'm really excited for them
THE FACELESS - One of my favorite bands, really excited to see them again
ALL SHALL PERISH - Meh
THE RED CHORD - Should be good
VEIL OF MAYA - No
CEPHALIC CARNAGE - Should be good
DECREPIT BIRTH - Love these guys
CARNIFEX - No
ANIMALS AS LEADERS - I feel like they're gonna be really boring
VITAL REMAINS - Should be good

All in all, not amazing but not that bad either.

primarily wanna see All Shall Perish. Decrepit Birth and The Faceless should be good. i tried getting into Vital Remains and The Red Chord but they did nothing for me, but maybe i'll enjoy 'em live. Veil of Maya and Carnifex aren't that bad. Animals as Leaders don't fit at all but they'll be interesting. lastly i'm not into Decapitated really, but they're really talented, i'll definently stick around for them, i'm sure they'll slay live.

EDIT: listened to The Red Chord again. maybe my music tastes have evolved or i heard a bad song, but from what i'm hearing now is great stuff.

DECAPITATED - Will be good, but not nearly as good as the first SS.
THE FACELESS - They need to get the fuck off SS, seriously.
ALL SHALL PERISH - Did not like them at all the last time I saw them.
THE RED CHORD - Could never get into them.
VEIL OF MAYA - Pretty bad.
CEPHALIC CARNAGE - Would be pretty fun.
DECREPIT BIRTH - Would be pretty fun.
CARNIFEX - FUCK NO YOU ARE THE WORST BAND EVER
ANIMALS AS LEADERS - Never listened.
VITAL REMAINS - Deserves to be playing directly under Decapitated on every date.

lol at The Faceless getting off SS. They are the best tech-death band to emerge in the last couple of years. Besides Carnifex the bill is great.

I like the Faceless enough, but they have been on a Summer Slaughter tour every year since its inception.

2007 (they were the first band on SS I saw that year that wasn't terrible), 2008, and 2010 in the US, and in 2009 they did a foreign SS tour.

DECAPITATED-I like them but not quite as much as most people on here. Should be cool to see.
THE FACELESS-Absolutley love them.Best tech-death band to emerge in a while.
ALL SHALL PERISH-Pretty much at the top of the heap when it comes to deathcore bands. Really talented and a great live band.
THE RED CHORD-One of my favorite bands and they absoultely CRUSH live.
VEIL OF MAYA- Pretty good band sure they have some breakdowns but there not god awful.
CEPHALIC CARNAGE-I am pretty damn excited to see them. They are quite good.
DECREPIT BIRTH-Not really into them.
CARNIFEX-Pretty shitty band. Sucked the last time I saw them not expecting much from them this time out either.
ANIMALS AS LEADERS-Never listened to them but have heard good things.
VITAL REMAINS-Great band should be a little bit higher on the bill.

I think the people in charge of SS this year are really hoping they can bank on Decapitated's return because everything else could be so much better.

I'd say that this year actually looks quite solid. I mean, if you take into account the fact that this is a full on tour that takes place in the U.S., in the summer (when so many good bands are playing at numerous European festivals), they did a pretty good job. The fact that Decapitated have returned makes sense as to why SS is having them headline. And usually at SS, the headliner doesn't have the biggest audience, so they didn't have to get someone huge to headline. And if you look at the deathcore factor, it's not anywhere near as bad as the last two years. When I saw The Red Chord with Converge a few years back, they seemed much better than most bands with a deathcore sound. While I'm not really big on VOM, they aren't awful like Winds of Plague. And in regards to The Faceless playing yet again, it's probably because they didn't really start to get a lot of recognition with Planetary Duality until around last year (when they didn't play SS). Now say, if they're playing SS again next year, as well, then that's really pushing it.
I wouldn't argue that this is the best line-up ever, but for what's possible to get in the summer (for a tour in the U.S.), with Mayhem, Ozzfest (?), festivals, etc, this is a really solid bill.

Yeah, Decapitated - Vital Remains - Cephalic Carnage - Decrepit Birth - Animals as Leaders is worth $20.00 in my opinion. The shitty bands give you time to do things between the good bands anyway.

Why didn't you like it? Station 4 has huge poles blocking the stage. If you're in the upper level of First Ave. on the right side, it has a huge thing which blocks the entire right half of the stage. Myth had NOTHING blocking the stage. Also, neither First Ave. or Station 4 have any type of loading section. The band's equipment has to be loaded out on the street right in front of the general public. Same with the tour buses. Myth had a blocked off area for ALL of that.

1. No re-entry, in its later years
2. Security guards were dicks
3. Impossible to meet bands
4. Lesser bills with higher prices, the only concert at The Myth I felt like I got my full moneys worth at was Les Claypool.

And once... when I was a boy... I lost muh shoes in the pit! o_O

I dont stand in back at Station all too often and I hardly ever go to 1st Ave, but when I do I stand up front there as well. I'm going to 1st Ave twice this year, that's double what I went to last year. Haha

I met Opeth at the Myth, just by standing by the tour buses and waiting for about 40 minutes.

I think I tried doing that with Megadeth at Gigantour, but they didn't come out, so I guess it depends on the band and how nice they're feeling that night.

But yeah, the Myth was a nice venue and all, had its own parking lot, but it was way too expensive all the time, and security were assholes.

They'd get massive exposure on SS, which would allow for them to be back more often, so I'd be happy either way.

Damn, seeing them for a full headline set would be amazing though. They were phenomenal when I saw them.
