3 Inches of Blood -- Anchorage, AK -- February 27th, 2010

Ah, first post! Been cruising the site for a while, love that there's a good place dedicated to metal setlists. Although the concerts in the good ol' AK are few and far between, I'll post the ones that I go to (for, uh, analysis purposes...). Anyway, to the concert!

Concert was at Chilkoot Charlie's, a bar venue; the night before the show was an all-ages at Club Millenium (I assume the setlist was the same). Two local bands opened up for the hilarious and epic 3 Inches of Blood, being City in Ashes and Chased Through the Woods. City in Ashes was a pretty standard 36 Crazyfists knock-off, although much more enjoyable than expected. Chased Through the Woods was a deathcore band through and through, who I wasn't too crazy about but the crowd really dug; the vocalist looked pretty pained all throughout, albeit with some impressive screams and growls.

Finally, 3 hours after the show begin time (!), 3 Inches of Blood steps on stage and plays a rockin' set:

While I was sad that they played SO MUCH off of the new album (which I don't enjoy - production quality is shite :bouville:), the songs did sound waaay better live, so it was still an awesome show. Plus the faces that Cam Pipes makes the entire time are priceless.

3 Inches of Blood used to be one of my favorite bands to see live. I was dissapointed with the new cd and knowing they play a lot of it in their set causes me to not want to see them live anymore. I've seen them 7 times so far.

Yeah, I find it unfortunate as well, when they lost their screamer (Hooper?), it really hurt them. Plus the riffs on the newest album just aren't up to par. I can listen to A&V and FUtB all the way through, but there's maybe 2 or 3 songs off the new one that I really enjoy (Battles and Brotherhood, Silent Killer... well, maybe just 2 then!). Like I said, they're still a blast to see, and the new stuff sounds better live. However, I still wish I could have seen them a year or so ago.

Yeah, that setlist sucks.
Exact same stuff they have been playing since Fire Up the Blades came out, with the addition of new stuff.
You'd think with the reissue of their first one we'd get more cool old songs :(

Totally agree with the new cd sucking. If a band has to play a cover it's cool when they pick a great song like Cities on Flame.
