There's a huge difference between "slick" production and good production. This definitely falls into the latter category. Everything is nice and heavy without being distorted, and none of the instruments are too high in the mix.

It's definitely the weirdest Nevermore album. There's not all that much shred going on, and Warrel sounds kind of different...it's really good though. I'm beyond pumped for the new one in April.

That would make sense, even TPOE had a "pre-defined" Nevermore sound to it. I think they definitely hit it gold with DHIADW (my personal favorite of theirs as well, a very close hit to EOR though). This one in April is gonna be bombastic, I can feel it.

I can't help but think that this is the last track on the album because Neige knew Amesoeurs was done and he wanted to say "Hey, here's the direction Alcest is headed in, everyone!" It's not so different from the track I've heard from the new Alcest disc, it's just got a little less acoustic/atmospheric elements and a little "blacker" vocal delivery.
