I love all three Mike Howe-era releases, I highly recommend them all. Just great old school metal.

Most people would say I'm retarded for suggesting you listen to anything besides the debut and "The Dark".

So how is this album bad again...

I don't think it is. Every single time WASP releases a new album, there's a lot of people who shake their heads and act like the last one was so much better, no matter the quality of either. It's very weird. I have never seen a band that no matter what they do, there's just shit thrown in every direction, as though people have some false godlike perception of what the band used to be.

"Babylon's Burning" is about as good a song as they've ever done, and I think the production on the album is well above their typical standard.

The next band to take the stage at that show was this band I had never seen before, but was newly in love with - and they were the reason I was at the show (even though there were two more bands billed above them). Perhaps you've heard of them - they call themselves BARONESS.

I'd been hearing so much hate towards the album I didn't think that a soul out there enjoyed it. It sounds just the same as all there other stuff, excluding gems like The Crimson Idol, The Headless Children. And I don't mean that in the "it's nothing special" way, moreso in the "it's a really enjoyable album and that's that". :D

"Blue Marble" is just boring to me. It sounds like it's building up but there's no goddamn climax. It just meanders around for four minutes and then it's over. And for the so-called ballad of the album, it should at least ATTEMPT to be beautiful. I mean, this is the band that gave us "The Heart Collector," it's not like they're devoid of emotion. Sure sounds like it anymore, though. And yeah, I do think TGE is their masterpiece, and maybe that's liking it a little too much, but it's also just that they were doing a different sound. I realize that this is the non-technical, stripped-down album, but frankly I think they're better when they're whipping out the tech stuff, and I don't usually like "guitar player" albums.

I feel tons of emotion in "Blue Marble", I don't know how it doesn't come across. It's not the kind of blunt emotional wave that "The Heart Collector" gives off, and I appreciate the difference. And I love TGE, and I love the "techy" stuff too, but I guess I like both just as equally, I can't really pick a preference.

Interested to hear this album...err..i guess...

I think I get a digital copy emailed because of buying Ozzfest tickets. Anyone know anything more about that?

This.

I just ran across something that said you get it 3 days before the album comes out, which would be Saturday.

That would make me much happier as a fan. If I go away without hearing Paschendale I'll be bummed, but I'll still have seen the best band in the world, so we're all good.

Really? It's so full of fail.

There's only two songs on Systematic Chaos I like much at all. My least favorite DT album.

Didn't turn out as well as I was hoping. I preferred Magica's new one.

I don't like Black Metal though.

I realize that for whatever reason, genres of metal I don't care much for have lots of women in them, but there is a SERIOUS deficit of progressive/power/traditional/melodic metal bands with female singers that don't suck or aren't trying to do the whole operatic/gothic/symphonic thing.
