Actually, they are supposed to reissue all of them this year, with bonus tracks. I was looking for the article, all I could find was this interview with Jon.

So far all that's on the release schedule here is The Wake of Magellan and Edge of Thorns, both mid-May on Ear Music, who did the recent 3-disc best of. I was hoping that would be a precursor to a batch of re-issues, but nowt so far.

Oh, I was under the impression that it was supposed to be the entire catalog. I know Jon has the rights to Dungeons, Sirens, and Fight for the Rock. The rest of them I'd imagine we are at Paul O'Neill's mercy.

I was hoping it would be, and some of the acoustic tracks Jon has recorded are off the earlier ones, so fingers crossed those are coming later.

Might find they're releasing these ones to keep the ball rolling until he finishes up all the acoustic stuff for the others.

That phrase gets used more often than it's true to explain away shitty lyrics.

Perhaps, but you've apparently never seen Lair of the Minotaur live, or you would know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that in their case, the phrase applies squarely and surely to everything they do. Plus, I've met them and talked to them. Trust me - the term applies.

They're opening the season at our outdoor venur. Opening is Jack White's new band The Dead Weather, so there's a chance they might play Fiber Optic Jesus which is...like super rare.

Also, Wayne Coyne's brother's band, Stardeath & The White Dwarfs, was just added to the bill, so there are rumors floating around that The Flaming Lips will do a normal set of Lips songs, then have an encore where they do Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety with his bro's band.

Either way: You should see them. One of the funnest experiences of my life.

I like all their albums mainly because I love Steve Lee's voice. So even the ordinary ones make me  But my favorite is their first album, which is by far their best, in my opinion. They changed style after the first 3, and I have to say that Open and Homerun nearly bore me to pieces compared to the rest.

Yep, I'm a big fan of Steve. He was the stand-out man on the last Ayreon album for me.

And live he's awesome.

I agree, I think G. is my favourite album so far, but yes, far too much Def Leppard, not enough groove riffing on some of the latter albums. For me Domino Effect and Need To Believe retread that pattern as well, but Lipservice is just packed with killer songs. All of which are great live too, and most of which are still in their set two albums later. Coincidence? ;)

Plus, the ripping off of Wheels of Steel on I Don't Mind is basically unforgivable.

Gotthard has never played this country, to my knowledge at least, but I have the Live in Switzerland DVD, and that rules. I told SOMEONE around here to pick it up, but I don't think they did yet. G is great, after that, they drop off a bit for me, then pick back up at Lip Service. I like them generally, but this is my favourite. Shame all those asshole Crue fans at the time were so against him and we never got a proper second album. The same kind of fans who won't accept a Bach-less Skid Row for no better reason than it's not Bach (Revolution Per Minute is awful, though), or an Ozzy-less Sabbath.

I saw Bach solo a few years ago and he was terrible, whereas I've seen Skid Row without him twice and they were great both times. And I think we all know how much better off Sabbath have been without Ozzy for the last 20+ years.

I actually hear a lot of praise for this album whenever it gets mentioned, and a lot of people saying it's their favourite Crue record. I therefore tend to find the one I say I like that no one else likes is Generation Swine. Or sometimes New Tattoo.

And I'm pretty sure they wouldn't suck half as much live as they do now if they still had Crabby. I've seen them twice with Vince and they were terrible both times, mostly because of him.

In regards to Motley Crue. I like Crue, and I like Vince. But it's more nostalgia for me. As a kid I loved them, and it kinda takes me back to hear that stuff. Musically, not a whole lot of talent going on, Vince is probably the weakest link, but he is still my favorite. He's a cool guy. And I find Motley to be FUN. I like the self titled Motley Crue album, fondly referred to as MC94. And I LOVE Generation Swine. New Tattoo, not so much. I find it a bit boring. I know what they were trying to do, but it sorta fell flat, I think.

We're not supposed to like Generation Swine you know. I know what you mean about New Tattoo, and for me Saints of Los Angeles is the same. A few great tracks, and the rest are just copies of those.

I like Vince on record too. Even his solo albums (the new one sounds good too). But live he's dreadful.

What did you think of Sixx:A.M.? Another unpopular one, but again album of the year for its respective year (2007?) for me. I haven't managed to finish the book (I've been reading it since that year too) because frankly, it's crap. Not half as insightful as if he'd actually written something coherent and intelligent instead of mashing up a load of (probably re-written) diary entries. But that album was special.

Yes, I am constantly defending Generation Swine. It's one of the few Crue albums that I still play regularly and it always sounds fresh. I might have to break that one out today because I can already hear the songs in my head as I type this. Great album! As for Sixx AM, love it! It's different, its experimental, its a rock opera, how can I not love this? I think it was too intelligent for the typical Crue fan to truly get it. Of course there is a legion of sheep who love it only because it has Nikki Sixx on it, but they are just lying to themselves. Very few people appreciate that album for what it is. And I think it's great. I saw Cruefest 2 years ago, I believe, and Sixx AM opened the show. It was just as amazing live as it is on record. As for Sixx's book, I havent read that one. But I heard it was just a lot of rehash from The Dirt, which I love, plus a bunch of filler so I didn't bother.

Yes! At least there's two of us who get the Sixx:A.M. album!

I'm actually quite nervous for a second one. I can half see them just making a generic modern rock album.
