After last year's lineup, you're complaining about Mastodon?

Gah, can't make it, all the days are mad inconvenient. Oh well, I've seen the Crack They Skye experience already, although I would love to see Baroness.

I've seen both - but that doesn't mean I'm not going to try like hell to do it again! :snivel:

P.S. - How does Pittsburgh get a stop on this tour and not Cleveland? :bouville:

Fuck no. They're playing on the same day as Them Crooked Vultures but I'm not about to pay upwards of $100 and drive 10 hours to see 2 bands play short sets.
Also, I fucking hate hippies.
If anything I might go to LA to see the Rust in Peace tour over spring break.

I didn't realize it was that expensive, or so far away from you. I suppose I would have realized it if I had thought about it for a minute, but...I didn't. Coachella just seemed like something which may have been a cool thing to do in the past, and / or for a lot less money and trouble. I mean, Tool has been there. Primus has been there. You know, that kind of shit.

I was thinking of venues for it to be at, and the only one I was thinking that might be their size is Fox Theater...

FUCK YES CAN YOU SAY NEW ENGLAND METAL AND HARDCORE FESTIVAL. My 2 fave bands on the same tour I can not even believe this.

Yeah, there are always a handful of cool bands/artists, but spread out over 3 days and 4-5 hundred miles away. They had Outside Lands in SF the past couple years, which hosts similar bands, but turned out to be a lamefest.
Just to give you an idea, it's 2 hours without traffic (ha) southeast from LA to Coachella.

Also: I'm convinced Oakland is gonna be a festival or something. They wouldn't hold out a date this long just dealing with a venue, and the Fox is not booked that day.

I went to Outside Lands last year...it was sweet.

It took them forever to announce one for Dethklok too, after they'd told me there'd be one. I'll wait it out for a while.

That was actually because of Outside Lands, festivals have contracts with bands that they can't play/announce shows in the area a certain amount of time before or after.
I saw the video of Mastodon's set, it probably would have been good if Brent's guitar wasn't out of tune the whole time, which totally fucked the show.

I don't know if they'll shorten the sets much, if at all. If they do what they did with the Hatebreed/Trivium combination, they'll start the show much earlier then have them all play the standard set. I think that's the way to go.

EDIT:

Yeah, the show starts at 4, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Hmmm. Hopefully we don't get jipped on set times, but still this is awesome. And it makes up for Scion fest being 2000 miles away last year, since you would only see this many bands anyway.

The show starts at 4, I think we'll be fine. Mastodon wouldn't play a 2 hour set on this tour would they?

TonyD

Hopefully around 90 mins, since they're probably doing CTS for a 3rd time.
I'm just worried Baroness and High on Fire are gonna get fucked.

Okay, here's my reasoning. Show starts at 4, gets out at 12ish.

Mastodon: 90
Between the Buried and Me: 60
High on Fire: 60
Baroness:45
Priestess: 30
Valient Thorr: 30
Black Cobra: 30
Bison B.C.: 30

I think it would work out somewhat close to this.
