Cool review. I knew 3 songs in that this was the best Overkill album in 15+ years. They do speed and thrash as well as anyone.

It's kinda sad how little I care about this band now.

 Your musical tastes have done something really bizarre over the last year or two. We used to see eye to eye on so much! :snivel:

Haven't really had a chance to let the whole album sink in yet, but I'm really digging The Green And Black

after a few listens...

its not a bad album. definitely way different than their classic stuff, but not necessarily bad. i wouldnt say its amazing either, had its cool points and weak points, and some songs just dragged on for too long. overall = meh

anyone else having problems with the cd?

The one I bought sounded all distorted and the last two songs would lock up my computer every time I tried to import it.

Then i returned it for a new one and it did the same thing.

I'm having it ordered from another shipment or whatever though through FYE tomorrow.

I put it in my computer and it didn't recognize it as a CD. So I just downloaded the album. :P

Album slays, though.

Badass album. Best Thrash Metal album since Testament's The Formation Of Damnation. And that's saying a lot.

Damn, forgot about Endgame. But then again I'm more of a Testament fan then Megadeth fan...

I think you got me on this one. Endgame is really badass.

To me Endgame and Formation are sooooo close with Formation barely better than Endgame, and I don't know if those will be beaten by an old thrash band for a while...maybe if Dave Ellefson contributes a bit more to songwriting with Megadeth?

Formation OF Damnation is so damn good. Endgame is right up there. Like you they are so close but TFOD beats out Endgame.

That would be sweet. I've always enjoyed Ellefson's contributions, no matter what project he is apart of. I hope it will happen.

Haven't been able to come round here much lately, but I'd like to mention that this album kicks a formidable amount of ass. Pretty surprising, really. :horns:

Really great, heavy thrash album. I'll agree with the statements that some of the songs may just be a tad long-winded, but other than that it kicks total ass. The opening threesome of The Green And Black, Ironbound, and Bring Me The Night is just ridiculous. :rocker:

EDIT: Also the production completely slays, very similar to Exodus' later albums. Peter Tagtgren hardly ever does a bad job though.

Yeah if there's a better 1-2-3 punch released in 2010 I can't wait to hear it. What a way to start a cd!

Sounds like I really should listen to this one, I didn't like Immortalis at all

Well, replace all the groove and Randy Blythe with thrash and awesomeness and you've got Ironbound.

I have a feeling this will be like Kreator was last year. It's acceptable for now, but once better releases start coming out people will quickly forget about this.

That's fair, and probably true.

Better releases are already out. But this is still a good album.

In my opinion Ironbound is Overkill's best album since From the Underground and Below. My favorite track being the title track.
