The guy playing the video seems like one of those lame "pro" multiplayer people, so it was hard for me to watch when the police came.

But yeah. Very glad I'm not getting this game.

I only watched up until the initial massacre because I don't want to spoil the game for myself but I think it looks very cool. Is it edgy? Yeah, but I won't feel bad slaughtering pixels because I'm not gonna go imitate scenes like that in real life.

Eh, a good game(and by extension, movie, book, etc.) should make you care about what's going on, even though it's not real, IMO.

However, in concept, having such a negative thing depicted by a (protagonist? i dont really know the context) in a game is actually kind of an interesting idea. I do think that making you do it yourself is pretty ridiculous, though. :hmm:

Remember in CoD4 when you're that prisoner in the very beginning? This is kinda like that.

Yeah, I agree about the making you care thing. In the right context (when I'm playing the game) it'll probably make me care a lot more because I'm engaged in the story. But in this context I meant that I'm not all offended (as I'm sure the media will be) by having to carry an act of video game terrorism. As far as the context of it, I'm pretty sure your character has infiltrated the Russian Nationalist circle and you have to gain their trust (I think one of those guys in the video may even be the top bad guy).

Also, I'm not sure if this is true but I think I've heard that this is an optional level.

also, I was playing dragon age: origins last night and its easily one of the best games of the year. the story is so cool, BioWare is awesome. im not really a big medieval rpg guy, but this game really sucked me in. the difficulty level is pretty challenging cause you need to use tactics to win. its also cool that the game gives you the different story based on what race and gender you pick.

I'm inclined to agree here.

Besides, it wasn't all slaughter for slaughters sake, at the end (if ya'll watched it that far) it reveals that the level is, presumably, a catalyst for the whole story. Plus I thought the twist at the end was pretty damn good, I certainly didn't see it coming.

Plus I would assume you can walk through the level without firing a shot if you want, I doubt the characters are programmed to pick up on that.

JRA

People should take video games more seriously...every once in awhile. Otherwise that brings that anti-gaming legislation one step closer to shutting it down. Remember what happened to comics in the 50's.

I will say I'm glad the developers had the tact to make that an optional level.

a) This whole 'terrorism' business

b) CoD is a game that focuses its graphics on being as realistic as possible. To the person who made the comment about taking video games too seriously, I dont take video games seriously, usually, but when the developer has taken steps to make the video game as realistic as possible, then I will respond in like.

I've watched it more than a few times, and it looks like a fun level. When it comes to my shooters, I LOVE killing people. Honestly it's a game, and it's Rated M for a reason (17yrs old plus), and Only those of Mental Conditions will play this and think "Yeah, I should try that for real!!!".

Games are just games... When was the last time you looked towards Monopoly for financial advice? Only people with less than average intelligence play video games and then go out in the real world and try what they did... All the kids who get hurt or killed because they think "OH WOW! I'M TONY HAWK!" or "Hell Yeah!!! My city is just like GTA!!!!!"

Come on... :2cents:

The scenarios aren't more realistic, the presentation is. During the course of the mission, you'll see people crawling around on the ground bleeding, begging for their lives, and trying to drag the wounded to safety. The dead don't magically evaporate, so having hundreds of bodies litter the ground makes it feel a lot more like mass murder than your average Grand Theft Auto rampage. The civilians just seem a lot more human than the ones in a game like GTA, and that's what makes it more disturbing.

I don't think anyone (aside from the most hysterical TV pundits) is saying it's disturbing because someone might try to do it in real life. It's just unsettling that a game has you participate in an act of terrorism.

Playing COD now and that level is bad ass. You can play through it without personally shooting anyone until the cops (I was hoping for a secret achievement for not killing any civilians) so it's not that bad. I feel like playing it again and killing everyone after not getting an achievement though. Then I learn had I beat a cop to death with a riot shield I would have gotten one. Errrrrrrrrr....

I do find it wildly amusing that someone could listen to songs about "Ripping the endtrails from a virgins cunt" and have ANY problem with this. hahahahaha

People fap to MW2's multiplayer because of the same reason they fap to WoW. They keep enticing the player. "Just a few more kills and then you'll get to THIS level, which means you can get THIS gun and THIS camo, etc."

And before you know it, a few kills turns into a few hundred kills which turns into a few thousand kills...you get the idea.
