So basically,
I'm a freshman (youngin' :horns:) and was wondering what are some metal related jobs? All suggestions are welcome. I just figured I'd need to figure out my future sometime.

If you want to work in metal (which is lame, unless you're Brad, he actually has a real plan) then there isn't much else besides working at a record store or record label, working at a venue, knowing someone in a big band and getting hired onto their road team, what have you. Most people, like the dudes that wrote Lords of Chaos and the dude from Metal: A Headbanger Journey were already on path to get other jobs (like in sociology), and chose to work on projects that dealt with metal. I'm sure the rest of their lives outside of those projects are rather nonmetal.

No one's mentioned working for a label? Or journalism?

Yes, that has been mentioned.

Well, one of them has :p

I think you should become an astronaut. Then you'd be working in something metal.

Enjoy the age where "dream job" still means something. It won't last long.

Decibel EIC Albert Mudrian said to get into metal journalism start a blog, pimp it, actively maintain it, then when you apply at a magazine, you have experience already and are much more attractive to the employer (like him, for example).

But don't even think about it guys there's only so many jobs in metal magazines and I don't want to do anything else. :eyes:

I don't really see the part where that warrants an eye-roll.

Well something i want to do is host my own gigs. Some at small venues, but mostly backyard gigs. Then work my way up to hosting bigger shows. Maybe open up a venue. That's how some local promotions did it.

Or ask Andrew. That guy is straight pimpin it with his gig at Fullmetalrock.com
