Either:

a) The monitor is fucked (dodgy connection)
b) Someone's snuck in and drawn it on with a pen
c) The monitor has divided itself into love and hate. Which ever is the bigger portion will tell you the general disposition of the monitor.

if you apply pressure to it does the line go away? if so then there is just a bad connection between the screen and the monitors internal hardware. hopefully its still under warranty so you can get it replaced. if not go to newegg.com or tigerdirect.com they usually have some pretty good deals.

b)nope

It once went away when I did a restart. It's been back ever since:mad:

Classic case of a dodgy connection in the screen itself (that is what I meant when I said dodgy connection, not the plugs at the back, sorry ;))

Possibly, do u no if its still under warranty? Id say get it checked out at a local electrical goods repair place, just be wary not to pay an arm and a leg for wat could be a small problem..

plug in a different monitor. if it still does that then the problem is the video card, if not then its your screen.

From what I've read, it's the screen.

Very weird!!! So last night I turn on the computer and there is the red line. I pressed on the screen near it and the moitor went off. Turned it back on and the red line was gone! Maybe you guys were right about the dodgy screen connection??? We shall see what happens later today!

Yep, classic. Do a google search. You'll find lots of tech threads describing that exact problem.

It won't fix itself.

Told you

Replace it. It'd be cheaper than repairing it.

Definitely. They'd probably have to replace the screen entirely.
