The rules, these be for this year:

1. Pick the winner of each NFL game. You can make your choice up to five minutes before each game. No odds. No spreads. No bullshit. Just pick the winner.

2. Your two lowest weekly scores will be dropped. So if you forget to play a week or your dartboard fails you, it's ok.

3. Continues through the playoffs.

6. Philadelphia (11-5) at 3. Dallas Cowboys (11-5)

5. Green Bay Packers (11-5) at 4. Arizona Cardinals (10-6)

It's going to be tough for my Cowboys to beat the Eagles 3 times in a season, but I think they can pull it off. The defense is playing well with 2 shutouts in a row. The offense has been consistant since the Saints game and they are at home. I just hope it doesn't come down to a field goal.

After that, who knows?

In the AFC I see an Indy/San Diego championship match up. Not that that is going out on much of a limb.

Lol. Actually Suisham was 18 of 21 on field goals when the redskins cut him. It was the fact that the 3 misses were in crucial situations.

49ers on Carr you mean? I don't like it. He won't be a starter for us in the long term, and I'd like to build a team for the future. Building through the draft is better for the team, but it's much more fun as a fan to see a team build through free agency. Like the Bears.

I'm talking about the Bears in the first place. I couldn't have cared less until Singletary took over and changed the overall attitude and mentality of the team.
I think you're right about Carr but if you look at the Bears, they haven't spent any big money on free agents for as long as I can remember. It had to happen now if they are serious about going for a championship while Urlacher, Briggs and Tommie Harris are still around.

idrinkwine732
03-08-2010, 06:23 PM
They still don't have the receiving core to enhance the run game, which was really really lackluster last year. Not to mention Cutler's serious..............inconsistency, and that defense has a bit to prove. Also, they spent on Pace last year, but this year they went overboard. Taylor won't be worth it, Peppers could be, but it'll be interesting to see if he's as good as he was in Carolina.

TonyD
03-08-2010, 06:43 PM
I think we have what we need, even if Hester goes back to being a specialist. Earl Bennett, Johnny Knox and Devin Aromashadu have plenty of talent and could do big things, not to mention Greg Olsen.

We needed a stronger second RB, I don't think Forte could carry the same load he did in his first year.

If you watch Cutler, most of his faults were that he made bad deciscions under the circumstances of a weak offensive line. We had a couple of rookies last year that performed like rookies but should come back stronger with experience. The new TE is a much better blocker and should be splitting reps with Olsen. Mike Tice, a former head coach, is coming in as an offensive line coach. All of this will bolster the line, I would guarentee a significant improvement in Cutler's performance.

After everything was said and done, Pace only cost $6 million, which looks like a steal compared to Barry Zito.

Put it all in a blender, let it gel for 21-33 months and a Super Bowl win doesn't sound crazy.

WHEW. Sorry for the Maiden33-esque reply but that's all I've got til August.

idrinkwine732
03-08-2010, 07:55 PM
I think Aromashadu has serious potential, and he could have some great numbers if Cutler was more consistent. The key to that teams success is in Cutler, and if that means getting him a better line to work with, then do it. I wouldn't say they're as complete of a team as many people think they are.

Barry Zito is probably one of the worst offseason moves of all time.

What are you talking about August for, we have the draft next month! Might be my favorite part of football.

TonyD

What are you talking about August for, we have the draft next month! Might be my favorite part of football.

Traded 1st & 2nd round picks in 2009 and 1st round pick in 2010 for Cutler, and this years 2nd round pick for Gaines Adams, rest in peace.
I thought we should have gotten a compensation pick between the 2nd and 3rd round, but we're not gonna. Am I biased or does that sound fair?

I don't think I'm gonna do it this year. I always remember to do it for a week or two, and then completely forget for the rest of the season.

I ended up unintentionally dropping out last year because my computer died a week before chirstmas and by the time I got a new one the season was over.

Except my yearly tradition where I pick fourteen on fifteen right but LOSE IN THE LAST THREE MINUTES BECAUSE RYAN FITZPATRICK AND THE BUFFALO BILLS ARE SO GODDAMN TERRIBLE JESUS CHRIST THEY COST ME SEVEN HUNDRED FUCKING DOLLARS THAT WEEKEND THOSE FUCKING MORONS I HATE THEM AND THE GODDAMN TENNESSE TITANS...sorry, bad memories from two seasons ago.

Tell me that didn't actually happen. You didn't really bet seven hundred bucks on a Bills game did you? I wouldn't even bet that much on a good team. I wouldn't pay attention to the Bills much, though I think Sammy Watkins can be a difference maker for them. Is the NFL sunday ticket available in Canada? If so, get that and forget about the Bills and watch how the big boys play every week. That's what I did seven years ago and I have never been a happier NFL fan than I am with the sunday ticket.

No. In Ontario we have a lottery called "pools". It works almost the same as the Pick 'em thing we have here. You just pick the winners of all the games in the week. Whoever picks the most right in a week shares the prize with all the other people who picked right. All the people who got fifteen of fifteen share the pool, but if you got fourteen out of fifteen you get nothing. Unless NO ONE got fifteen out of fifteen then the people who got fourteen out of fifteen would share the pool.

I had fourteen out of fifteen that week because the Bills blew their game in the last three minutes. I would have gotten fifteen our of fifteen that week and would've been on top of the pool with who knows how many people. I think the prize was something like a half a million dollars that weekend but it was split up amoungst a few thousand people who went fifteen for fifteen.

And to add even more salt to the wounds I was actually at the game and witness the Bills costing me however much money LIVE. I wasn't too mad because it was the 1:00 game. So I was seven for eight after the early games and figured I'd get a few more wrong. Only later in the day did I see all my picks win and it set in. Then after my pick won Monday night I put a bounty on Ryan Fitzpatrick and Chan Gailey.

You poor soul. At least the Raiders have been shit for a while and there's no signs of optimism on the horizon, the Bears always give me hope at beginning the season before blowing at the end of the year. I honestly feel like they're cursed, no team besides maybe the Browns has shittier luck than the Bears.
