oh great, another over-hyped apple product that has been on the market for years already, yet has apple fanboys calling it "revolutionary". It doesn't even multitask, or have any video out ports, what a piece of shit.

Want a USB adapter? That'll be 60 bucks. Want a micro SD card reader because the 4GB harddrive is pathetically small? That'll be 60 bucks... on top of the price of the SD card. But hey, atleast it looks awesome, so you'll probably get some people giving you comments on it for a few weeks and make you feel like a cool dude.

So, I just found out some interesting news.

When my band "broke up" (moreso just indefinite hiatus) following a really nasty split with our drummer, there was this sense that our bassist had sort of been buddying up to him anyway, despite the obvious deception and bad blood that went on. I found out tonight that not only are the two of them still talking, but our bassist has joined his band and taken our band (and us) out of his top friends on myspace, replacing us with them. Not to mention yesterday he posted this completely ridiculous thing on his Facebook about "taking huge strides forward with music" and "actually having fun".

Well, no longer going to be able to attend DevilDriver/Behemoth. Too many class issues/prior commitments. Not the biggest loss, seen both of them already, and I'd preferably see em' both with their own headlining sets. And besides, always the good side of not going to a show: saving :money:

You know, for the sake of playing devil's advocate, I'm pretty sure all of our favorite bands have done this. Just because, say...Steve Harris and Bruce aren't meatheads doesn't mean they haven't wanted to, nor haven't kicked each other's asses. The only difference is none of those bands had the balls to put it on film. Yea, I said it. Putting a band fighting on film takes balls. Shit, that's probably from one of their DVD's. Back home the band were probably watching that shit and laughing their asses off. Good for them for the bravery rather than the usual stock and trade crap with band DVD's.

Of course none of this changes the fact that Lamb of God = weak sauce. :D

I think you're giving bands too much credit for remaining civil during heated conflict.

Somewhere in a Led Zeppelin book I have it talks about Robert Plant and John Bonham getting into a fight. Later on during the show after Bonham had finished a drum solo Plant offered a banana to him as a truce. :D

Look, I'm not saying that band fighting is cool or that it's a way of proving that you are a "real band," but if you seriously think that bands like Lamb of God are the only types of bands that get in a scuffle every once in a while, you are being extremely stupid. The thing is band fights are very un-cool so the Management and PR people make sure it doesn't leak out, where as Lamb of God put it on an effing DVD.

Josh's right here I think, most bands have probably gotten into physical altercations with each other at some point, that's just the way it goes provided they've played and toured together long enough. It's just bound to happen. Now, choosing to watch said fight is just retarded whether or not you "agree" with the idea of physical conflict resolution, unless you get off on watching dudes fight in which case more power to you thats just not appealing to me.

Thank you. Oy.:hecho:

Addendum: I maintain that its kinda bold for them to put it on their DVD, if for no other reason than for their fans to understand "whoa so the band doesn't always get along", but if you're the kind person that makes watching that clip (or any others like it) part of your daily routine, then you have issues.

The outdoor venue here (same place I saw Warped Tour, Mayhem Fest, blink-182, etc.) has a deal. For $250 I get a ticket to every show, early entry, VIP parking and access to their VIP club. So far the place only has 3 shows announced with more coming: The Flaming Lips w/ Dead Weather, Warped Tour, and American Carnage.

Sound good? I have to do it by Friday, then it doubles to $500.

Do it. The Zoo Amphitheater in OKC has something similar except it's over $1,000 and you HAVE to see 15 different shows there (still have to pay for every ticket) and it only gets you early access and about 10 feet closer to the stage.

EDIT: Oh and they only have a good show every few years.

I agree with this, but only because Peabody's specializes in metal shows. However, they're generally cheap(ish), like $20, so you'd half to see like fifteen shows or more to even make it worthwhile (plus, it's standing room only, so early entry means jack).

In your case, Manks, you kinda have to look at what types of shows the place has had over the last few years and predict how many decent ones there might be this year, what the ticket prices are likely to be, and where your "break even" point is. If it's like four or five shows, then maybe. Less than four, do it. More than five, you have to ask yourself how many shows you would actually attend.

The House of Blues did something like this last year in Cleveland, and after thinking about it the same way as I described above, I decided it wasn't a good idea for me.

Wow, only on this board would someone say they'd rather have contemporary pop stars than The Who. The last 3 have been The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and Prince. I'm not really watching the Super Bowl for the halftime show. I thought The Who were really bad, and they aren't going to do anyone I legitimately want to see, so I'd rather see a show because that's all it is. Pretty accurate, I think. It doesn't make any sense to have an artist who alienates 90% of everyone who actually cares about the game. AC/DC would indeed be a very accurate pick, as have been the last two now, in my opinion.

You have a fair point, but you'd have a better chance at being convincing if you weren't choosing to push someone we know you have a weird fetish for.

If you're judging on the show-aspect, sure - whatever. But that doesn't mean a pop artist is always going to give the best performance. You don't realize that the bands didn't design the stage show for this event. There's probably a whole special team of people who specifically does what they think is appropriate for the artist. You could do a non-pop show and have it be interesting, they just didn't. Don't blame the artist, blame the production company.

In regards to the playing - I'll take humans playing human music averagely over machine-made pop stars any day of the week.

And it used to drive my mother crazy, because she used to say, "Harlan Pepper, if you don't stop naming nuts," and the joke was that we lived in Pine Nut, and I think that's what put it in my mind at that point. So she would hear me in the other room, and she'd just start yelling. I'd say, "Peanut. Hazelnut. Cashew nut. Macadamia nut." That was the one that would send her into going crazy. She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Naw. Maybe if you'd have like 20 shots or 13 beers every night, you'd be an alchy.

Yeah, I was kidding. I just had alot of alcohol that I couldn't drink all at once, so I spread it out. Does wonders for the nerves.

Get the Hammerfall setlist for me. They are the best power metal band ever.

Haha, will do - kinda hope you're joking though.

The bands I'm looking forward to are ranked as follows:

Nocturnal Rites
Seventh Wonder
DGM
StormWarrior
Kamelot
Illusion Suite
Hammerfall

Gotta listen to Tarot more, not all that familiar with them.

As for the others - definitely not a TYR or leaves Eyes fan, don't like Delain much but will probably care enough to catch their set, and don't know much about Paradox or Oceans of Sadness.
