Wouldn't bother me. I've not reason at all to stand up at concerts unless it's an all-standing venue. I wouldn't stand up at the theatre, or a sports event, so why is a concert any different?

And before answering, remove all reasoning directly related to "because it's cool" or "because that's what you do at a gig".

But I agree about the front row thing. I don't think the option to stand should be removed completely, because there are people who want that, and that's fine. Don't care myself, but whatever. And if you've going to stand, you want to be doing it down the front. If you're going to sit, that level of proximity isn't really a huge deal. So yeah, standing down the front for sure, but all the rest of the whining that goes on about standing, nope, sorry, fuck off.

Especially people who moan about being told to sit down in seated sections. If you wanted to stand, you should have got off your lazy ass and bought a standing ticket before they sold out.

I stand up at gigs because when I see a metal or rock band, or most bands really, I like being able to mosh, to jump around, to headbang, to essentially go a little crazy at the concert. Metal, rock and punk aren't types of music you are meant to sit down for, they thrive on the energy of the people watching them going crazy. I understand sitting for an acoustic at, or a classical performance, but metal, rock and punk, I would honestly HATE to sit for those shows, and I would be very fucking annoyed if I was forced to.

Doesn't even matter now. The damage has been done and people will videotape them at NEHMF and tons of people will be doing Uno shit and they'll probably get a fight on tape.

Amen. My buddy is going to videotape everything that goes down at NEHMF to see if they try to fight anyone over UNO. I am defintley bringing my UNO cards and seeing what happens.

Landmine Marathon - Wounded

Cynic - Focus (The Expanded Edition)
Mouth of the Architect - Quietly (the only album in my 2008 Top Ten I didn't already own)
Jex Thoth - Jex Thoth - I found this at a real live record store - no fucking way!

The first two CD's were from the merch table at Scion Rock Fest. I had a chance to talk with LM's bassist / vocalist Matt Martinez, and when I asked him for help on some of the new songs from their set list, he whipped out his iPhone and just e-mailed the set list to me. Ain't technology sweet? (Nice guy, by the way. :D)

The remaining CD's were bought at a record store next to one of the venues at the Scion Rock Fest in Columbus. The place is called Magnolia Thunderpussy, and not only do they have a ton of new and used metal in all formats, but a pretty extensive selection of DVD's, shirts and other paraphernalia for addicts such as myself. I've been to a hell of a lot of record stores, in places like New York, Chicago, Atlanta and the like, and this is one of the best places I've visited. Check them out if you're ever in Cbus for a gig or whatever. :rocker:

In some cases (i.e. mine) it's not that I don't believe that there are "better" products on the market, it's just a total lack of interest in educating myself on them, and a desire to have the most user-friendly, accessible thing available. Apple therefore wins.

I love the simplicity of iTunes, and I found the click wheel pretty easy to use. I have touch now, and it's fantastic.

my friend convinced me to install itunes just so we can have instant access to each others music collections through the house network. i still use foobar2000 as my main music player tho. itunes is alot more laggy and is alot more cluttered.

iTunes runs way smoother on Mac than on Windows.

Even if this is true, it doesn't do about it's inability to track files if you move them, or the general clusterfuck of trying to organize anything in it, or the fact that you can't even select multiple things without using shift (ok that one's minor but it's pissed me off so many times :eyes: ). I just find the general design of it's functionality to be counter-intuitive... not to mention that it refuses to play some of my files to begin with :hmm:.

In some cases (i.e. mine) it's not that I don't believe that there are "better" products on the market, it's just a total lack of interest in educating myself on them, and a desire to have the most user-friendly, accessible thing available. Apple therefore wins.

Yeah, that laziness seems to be the biggest selling factor for Apple stuff. Disagree with the user-friendly bit entirely, though.

MP3 player-wise I have an ordinary Creative Zen, which is a good few years old now and still going strong. I want one of the smaller Archos products or the newest model of the Zen X-Fi, but they're far too expensive. Being a good mp3 player is a fairly simple thing to do. Play music, good sound, no bullshit tie-in software that you must use, drag-drop of ordinary mp3s from a computer, can read any folder structure you care to set up, expandable memory with cards, small, simple. That's it. They don't need to be able to do any more than that.

All the rest of the things the expensive models can do, like play videos etc., is unnecessary bullshit.

In phones, ATC's HD model destroys the iPhone. In computers, the Mac vs PC thing doesn't need discussing, I don't think.

I despise iTunes and iPods

out of all the extra curricular PC problems people come to me with, half of them have to do with iTunes.

I also used a creative Zen for several years, the fact that it's recognized as just another drive is a lot nicer than having to deal with extra software...recently bought a 120 Zune though, and I love that thing  despite the dependency on extra software

Having the ability to put movies is a nice bonus, gives me something to do at work :D

Haha, get caught in a shot by mistake?

Myles is the dude in the crowd who takes over from Mark Wahlberg at his last show. He was still singing for The Mayfield Four at that point.

Oh really? Then I guess I have met Myles Kennedy. I was in the crowd with him. All the concert scenes I was there. They were all done in the same place, they just made us rotate to look like different cities!

I used to be concerned I wouldn't get my money's worth but being able to instantly watch stuff helps that I think. Gonna knock out everything I need to see this summer and then some. :horns: Anywho, here's the ten DVDs I put in my queue.

1. A Serious Man
2. Blue Velvet
3. Brazil
4. Memento
5. Malcolm X
6. Magnolia
7. Shattered Glass
8. Breaking Away
9. The Magic Flute (Bergman)
10. Up in the Air

Good choices. Memento is one of my faves of all time. Malcolm X and Shattered Glass are both pretty good. I didn't like Blue Velvet but that's only because I hate David Lynch. Up In The Air and A Serious Man are both on my queue as well. On a side note I am getting Sherlock Holmes tommorow.

You know, I don't remember exactly, but I remember being confused as hell, because obviously the extras didn't get to read the script, and there were different singers, and the part where he falls and starts bleeding, we weren't entirely sure if it was real or part of the film!

Pretty damn good (bonus: a nice rear nude shot of Vera )

Breaking Away takes place at IU...it's about something I hate at IU, the Little 500 bike races, but still...it's kind of required IU viewing, so whatever. And the Magic Flute is a Mozart opera (maybe my third favorite of his), but Bergman's version is supposed to be pretty trippy - some of it is the opera on stage but some of it is about the performers themselves and their lives outside of the opera and how their lives intertwine with the lives of their characters. If nothing else it's going to be visually nice (Bergman is a master of cinematography) and it's gonna have great music.

Afraid I haven't. Doesn't get talked about much.

Also, changed my queue. Didn't realize how many movies I can watch right online, so right now these are the DVDs I'm awaiting shipment of: A Serious Man, Blue Velvet, Brazil, Memento, Magnolia, Shattered Glass, Breaking Away, The Magic Flute, He Got Game, Fellini-Satyricon.

And these are the ones that I can watch online just as soon as I find the time: Malcolm X, Inland Empire, Beauty and the Beast (1946), The Seventh Seal, Seven Samurai

:fist: Fucking best purchase of my life, Netflix.

Yesterday at my local record shops I got my hands on:

Cannabis Corpse - Tube of the Resinated

Found it on the Chronic Colored Vinyl (Green with a white-ish mist in parts, pretty cool IMO) witch was the first of the 5 colors they've been pressing it on, this press was only 200 copies.

Cattle Decapitation - Homovore

Special Edition "Diarrhea of the Mouth Colored Vinyl" which is clear vinyl with pink, brown, and green splatter. I would have been cool with the Cow colored one, but this is cool too cause there were only 666 made.

Caustic Christ - Can't Relate

12" 45rpm Havoc Records Label

Caustic Christ - Lycanthropy

12" 45rpm Havoc Records Label

Chick Corea - The Leprechaun

Original Press

Chick Corea and Gary Burton - Crystal Silence

Original Press

Miles Davis - Decoy

Original Press

Pestilence - Resurrection Macabre

Original Press I assume, Mascot Record Label (Netherlands)

Phobia - Get Up and Kill

Original Press, Still had the poster in it!

Yes - Fragile

Original Press, Finally found one that was in good condition after years of searching

Yes - The Yes Album

Original Press, Finally.. Now I have every Yes album I like. :)

But you will go to the cinema to see a movie you've never seen. I don't know how things tend to go over there, but here almost every film ever will eventually be £3.99 on DVD. That's half what it costs to go to the cinema here.

For the sake of waiting for the DVD price to drop, I'd rather do that and have a collection of stuff I can watch whenever I like, with whoever etc.

That's half what it costs to go to the cinema here. That's about, what, $7 US? Damn. DVDs here are much more expensive. You can expect to pay $18-$22 for a brand new release, depending on where you get it. Wait a couple months and it'll come down to about $10-15. Movie tickets here vary, but where I live I pay $7.25 for a matinee and $9.75 for a evening show. They can be as much as $10 or $11 depending on where you live, though.

Stuff these days is coming out at about £8.99, brand new releases. The starting price is being forced down by Blu-Ray becoming cheaper.

Cinema here is about £7.50 most places. More in London. In central London it can be as much as £12. More if it's a 3D performance.

The Orange mobile phone network do a thing called Orange Wednesday for all customers (which I am). Every cinema takes part (except maybe a few independents), and it's basically buy one get one free for all films except 3D on a Wednesday. So that's when I normally go, paying standard London prices of about £9, but that'll be for two of us. It's the only way to affordably go to the cinema here with any kind of regularity.

Honestly, I've only been annoyed by teenagers at a couple of movies, and if anyone is being annoying, it's usually redneck adults who feel the need to participate in the film with such stirring insights as "He'd better watch out!" and "Is that the guy from Top Gun?"

And I hate going to movies where the one couple, who always seem to sit next to or near me, feels the need to discuss the plot in the middle of the film. Jesus Christ.....Brad do you remember Shutter Island?

Actually, I live close to the RI/MA line, so the theaters I usually go to are in either North Attleboro or Seekonk, and it's 9.75 for regular shows. Matinees are in the 6-7 dollar range, I think.

There's also this extremely disgusting movie theater down the road from me that shows movies about two months after they're released, and they're only $1.99. It's seriously disease-ridden, but it's cheap.

Ha, indeed I do. Fortunately, though, the distractions really don't do anything to ruin the movie for me as long as they aren't excessive. And they rarely are.

What I won't do is get up for popcorn or a drink in the middle of a show. I can't press pause there.

I need to start brushing up on bands I'm seeing in the Summer too, hence the Gary Moore live album.

They've released the day-splits for the High Voltage Festival now, so two more of my Summer days look like this:

JULY 24
ZZ Top
Heaven & Hell
Black Label Society
Cathedral
HammerFall
Saxon
Opeth (assuming no clashes - they're NOT on the metal stage )
Gary Moore
The Answer
The Union
Orange Goblin

JULY 25
Down
Clutch
Audrey Horne
Joe Bonamassa
High On Fire
Venom
UFO
The Quireboys
Lethargy
Magnum (assuming no clashes, can see them in Sweden instead)

Good point, but I know a lot of other people who traditionally don't like growling but bite the bullet for Opeth.

EDIT: For the record, my keyboard is dying on me, which is why I'm experiencing a lot of typos lately in the form of missed letters, it's not as responsive as it should be and I'm too lazy to check to see if it missed anything before I post.
