The Protector

Probably the greatest martial arts action film of the past 10 years and has the greatest fight scene of all time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXIGP6_fNZk).

 That was awesome. Pretty crazy, too, considering it was mostly one continuous shot. That must've taken some heavy duty choreographing.

I went to see Coliseum a few days ago and the bar had just gotten a new HDTV and they were showing it in between bands. The movie has insane fight scenes. Tony Jaa, in my opinion, is the best martial arts actor of all time. The stuff he does is insane.

If you have Netflix, Ong-Bak and Ong-Bak 2 are on streaming that also have Tony Jaa and the same director as The Protector. They're insane.

You're probably thinking of The Tomb Within, their new EP, which comes out tomorrow (no die hard so I don't feel rushed to order), but yes, the Awakened By Gore die hards were released last week. The normal version was released and sold out a month ago, but the fancy versions are in hardbound books with all sorts of neat stuff and were available in 3 colors so it took awhile to make.

Hah. SB and STD shit all over it. 1919 is under-produced and repetitive, but has a good kinda doomy groove.

I'd place TBH fourth, after STD, SB and Hangover Music Vol. VI. 1919 fifth, Mafia sixth, Shot To Hell 37th.

And none of them are as good as Book of Shadows or Pride & Glory.

I think most of the songs on TBH are stronger, even though alot of them are slower and not so heavy. Production doesn't really bother me though, and I like 1919 for the doom feel you mentioned. I forgot about Stronger than Death earlier, but I'm not a huge fan of Hangover Music. I think the new one is definitely better than STH, and most likely Mafia though.

I think most of the songs on TBH are stronger, even though alot of them are slower and not so heavy.

I don't purely because it was just a continuation of his "death war guns destruction" lyrical monotony. I thought his writing took a turn for the worse on 1919 and that continued until Hangover Music, when he wrote a few more proper songs. He still had the riffs on TBH and 1919, all of which I still enjoy, but not the songs.

Unfortunately BLS really started picking up new fans with Mafia, which wasn't a strong album, just an OK one, and I think that's why STH ended up being so bad. It was just Mafia 2, almost note-for-note.

I haven't got the new one yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

That's because it's a bootleg recorded from a TV broadcast. That label are constantly doing that and are somehow avoided prosecution over it. I have no idea how. Sometimes they've downloaded the exact same bootleg source of some of those broadcasts as I have and haven't even removed the taper's logo!

W. I have some notions about his Presidency and administration, and I think hearing his side of the story will help me make up my mind. I'm trying to read more about politics and economics from two different kinds of sources: 1) people who were involved, ie: memoirs, journals, news articles, etc. 2) People who obviously have a point to make, but do so in an intelligent manner, ie: Paul Krugman.

I'm really tired of this "politics bullshit" with the Republicans and Tea Partiers using raw emotion, racial appeals, and anger to sabotage the results of the previous election and put into place faux-populist, rich-wallet-lining economic policies, as well as the liberals and Democrats catering to populist demands, bickering amongst themselves, and using fear tactics to energize the base. Neither side is going to work together between now and probably February, and it pisses me the fuck off.

Nobody is the good side right now, but I'm frustrated either way. I'm happy I'll get to vote in the presidential election.

I bet that will be an interesting read. Definitely, the best way to make an informed decision either way. Exactly, each side has their own agenda and rarely see eye to eye.

Chomsky describes the terror of the modern age to be public apathy, acceptance, and equanimity... that is the equanimity and detachment in which sane, reasonable, sensible people can observe events and not react to them.

I'm even that concerned about people who just don't care about politics. I'm talking about people who a) think they are knowledgeable but actually have ignorant, ill-informed, or hatred-fueled views due to their lack of critical thinking skills and homogeneity of viewpoints they're exposed to, or b) People who only observe current events from a peripheral position and take stances on things that they aren't knowledgeable on at all. For example, the Ground Zero mosque. Every asshole and his aunt has an opinion on that topic but most people don't know the facts.

Well, it's a very simple concept, and I think it's at least part of what Sodom's getting at. In the best of sense, a man, whether intellectual or scholarly or not, that is, the sane, responsible, serious, quiet man who watches events unfold around him and witnesses the terror in the world, and doesn't respond to it... this is ultimately the terror of our age. Think about this. It's a terror of our society and other societies in and of itself. And in some ways it's worse than the occasional Suharto or Mussolini.

I think in the least of sense it grants those who do react the right to be indignant.

Hmm. I was at the 9/11 Memorial Museum on ground zero two weeks ago, and they told me 6 blocks. Shouldn't have taken their word for it I suppose.

People react in visceral, unintelligent ways to trivial matters such as the ground zero mosque. Basically matters the media use to rile the public. They are blown out of proportion, and recycled over and over by the media for exploitation until the matter dies and the public loses interest.

People don't react at all to matters of actual significance. AKA: state terrorism, atrocities carried out and committed by the U.S., the propaganda system, etc…

I think the later is more of what Chomsky was referring to.

Perhaps I shouldn't have thrown his stance in here... I might have mistaken its relevance.

I really only mostly enjoy writing for the creative aspects like the style of a good author, the creation of interesting characters and storylines and things like that. Nonfiction is... well, to me it's just facts (arguable, lol) put in a drawn out way. I often find the information to be interesting, but to be honest, I'd almost rather read about it as bullet points. Nonfiction writing has a tendency to bore me after a short while where I put the book down again. Meanwhile there's centuries worth of glorious masterpieces of literature that I probably won't be able to get through half of in my lifetime. Increased priority on that one.

Right there! Look! Did you read what you wrote??? You already hate Obama, and you're reading (batshit crazy) sources to justify your opinion. You have the conclusion first, and then you look for evidence. That is called confirmation bias. You are doing the opposite of what you're supposed to do!

Also, don't get me wrong: I don't worship Obama. There are a lot of things I don't like about him. For example, he's Muslim, but I'm a Thelemite. He's a member of the Trilateral Commission, but I prefer the Bilderberg Group. He's never been to Bohemian Grove, but hey - we're all human (except for the Queen and the Pope, they're a reptilian humanoid) For example, my school doesn't have a skull and bones club. These are nit-picky differences....I still like the guy.

To each his own. I like to know as much as I can about how the world (or at least America) works. Some nonfiction honestly reads like fiction sometimes. Too Big to Fail, for example, is a narrative piece.

Here's what I've been getting the past few weeks: mix of romaine and mixed greens, red onion, roasted red peppers, black beans, chicken, banana peppers, a little egg on top, feta cheese, and oil & vinegar for dressing. Holy shit, its so good. I justify the cheese because I don't eat alot of fat anywhere else.

The bean salad is awesome too: corn, black bean, edamame, garbanzo bean, fire roasted red bell pepper, scallions, red onion, red wine vinegar, olive oil. 130 calories in a small thing, but a good amount of protein, fiber, and vit. C.

Jones as been talking about martial law,the new world order,Bildeberg group. All these important things since 1995 or 1996.
There has been martial law in other countries. There have been dictators in others countries. What make all of you think it can't happen in the U.S.

I never said it cant happen in the US (technically it already did back when we were under british rule) My point is that Alex Jones is a fear monger, and that he acts like tomorrow morning your gonna wake up in a FEMA death camp.

Abe Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus during the Civil War, and I think the Union looks pretty okay now. Cool your jets.

Also, I think indestructible wrote a letter to the editor in my local paper. http://www.tdn-net.com/main.asp?SectionID=5&SubSectionID=23&ArticleID=109952&TM=60620.27

LOL

He calls for Joey Votto, a Canadian, to be President, which would be the most ridiculous thing in that sentence if he didn't also call for David Fong to be President.

Paul Sarber's cool though, my dad worked with him, he served in, like, every armed conflict from WWII on.

 I have been listening to an abundance of melodic, clean vocals metal lately, but I've always had those tendencies, they were just buried by other shit in terms of my overall listening ratios. Probably still are, but I'm on a Matt Barlow kick.

Secrets of the Temple: How the Federal Reserve Runs the Country by William Greider. I'm most likely going to be doing my Honors Thesis on the Federal Reserve, and my polisci adviser recommended I get this book. Usually people do honors theses (similar to doctoral dissertation) during their senior year, but I may do mine junior year. I'm only a first quarter sophomore, but my adviser thinks I can do it.

I'm a little wary of Iced Earth re-recordings with different singers, because that Something Wicked with Ripper is one of the worst things I've ever heard. Took every ounce of balls and power and energy out of the trilogy, which is some of the best IE material.
