I think Hardworlder garnered enough attention from people on this site that they will hear Ape Uprising without being told to, and it's just as fun and good as Hardworlder, and regardless of what else they like, everyone here likes NWOBHM/trad-metal.

I still don't think it'll make the site's top 10 of the year. I wasn't aware of more than maybe 2 or 3 people on this site that even listen to the band.

Demon?

The NWOBHM was heavy metal defined; it took the amplified guitar rock sound to its next logical progression from 70's underground styles derived from a blend of punk, psychedelic, progressive, and hard rock. That sound from that era is the jam. It's also better music to party to.

Hell yes. That song is catchy as hell, overall a good representation of The 8th Sin. Grand Illusion is generally in the same vein but better. Of their older stuff, Shadowland is the best. I generally consider Nocturnal Rites to be one of the most underrated bands out there, and in my personal top 10.

Yeah it's certainly their worst and a major disappointment but I'm seeing in a friendlier light since the concert. It's not as bad as I once thought, but they're better at self-contained epics than seventeen-part ones. Evidence: the best song by far is the only one resembling a pop song, "The Rake's Song". Won't make my top 10 but oh well, could be worse.

I've been thinking about getting some High On Fire, but I have no idea where to start.

I also have my eye on Jerusalem, but I barely make time to listen to 4 minute blasts from thrash bands anymore. When the hell is the ideal situation for an hour long track of doom metal?

Well I can't say I've heard them, but I have heard OF them. I know the singer on that album sang on the 2nd Fairyland album (I think it says a lot when you leave a band called Magic Kingdom and join one with a gayer name). I believe Oliver Hartmann has had some sort of affiliation with that band, which automatically makes me interested. However, they are on LMP records, who are pretty much notorious for signing every dime-a-dozen generic power metal band, even though a few of my favorites (Dungeon, Pagans Mind, Vanishing Point) are on or started on that label.

Yeah, "Fall of an Empire" is a solid album. I have the new one burned and sitting around, but I haven't gotten around to giving it a proper listen. I know that the vocals are primarily split between the singers of Pathosray and Serenity, both of which I like.
Dungeon is one of my 5 or so favorite bands, bar none. They sadly disbanded in 2006, but for a little more than half a decade they put out albums that, for me, define what great melodic, power, and speed metal is. All 4 of the proper Dungeon studio albums are fantastic, but if I had to pick a favorite it would either be Resurrection or One Step Beyond. Tim Grose's guitar playing and writing is out of this world and he's easily one of my biggest influences.

So you're one of those people.
I'm referring to that I've noticed when it comes to that album, there are two types of people:
People that think that Lord of Light and The Legacy are the two best tracks, and those who think that they are the two weakest, along with The Pilgrim. The second group is by far the more common one, and I think the general consensus is that The Longest Day and These Colours Don't Run were the overall favorites from that album. I just find it odd that the response was generally very black and white like that.

Hmm. I don't really have a good indication on what the general consensus is about that album, since it came out after I left the IMBB (and this place is too small to see it as an accurate cross-section of Maiden fans), but that's interesting. I personally think "These Colours Don't Run" is one of the weaker tracks, but "The Longest Day" is my 3rd favorite. I can see why some people might not like "The Legacy," but how anyone could think "Lord of Light" is weak is beyond me. Which category do you fall into?

O fasho that album is tight my friend just doesn't have it at his house where we usually party, he only has the first 3 from way back when I was getting everyone into metal in 8th grade haha, I'm gonna burn Dream Evil for him an bring it over next time though. Lock Up The Wolves and Strange Higheays are dope too, but more doomy. Craig Goldy plays guitar on that one not Campbell and Jimmy Bain plays bass btw.

It came out when I was a sophomore in high school so it will always hold a special place in my collection.
