I finally broke down and got the new Kylesa. Thanks Nat for recommending it so highly. I think I like it better than Blue Record actually. More my style
You're welcome. :D Ya know, Baroness and Kylesa are good friends and come from the same music scene in Savannah, GA. John Baizley from Baroness did the artwork for the cover of Static Tensions (and a lot of other badass album covers as well :fist:).

Paxil = Axl
Around Halloween I was trolling the Metal Sludge boards, and as is bound to happen, some GNR faggot started one of those "Chinese Democracy starts NOW" threads that we've been forced to endure for the past 10 years. Somebody responds:
"Yeah, I'm sure Best Buy and Geffen are thrilled that Paxil's loopy ass is ready for Chinese Democracy to start NOW - nearly a year after the album dropped."

I like Tony Martin singing the Dio songs more than Dio, and the black album, and most "tr00" Slayer fans would say that they haven't done a good album since Reign. So go eat a dick.:finger:

IMO Hell's Kitchen will always be DT's best instrumental. I know, that's such a retarded, unconventional choice, but I absolutely love it. It's so... tasteful, haha. Also it's super melodic, and Petrucci's melodic, ballad-y soloing is like my favorite stuff he does.
I also should probably note that coincidentally I hold Lines in the Sand in a similar regard to where you hold Voices, just a little less.

I think SBT has better riffs and a better production vibe than BBW, though I greatly prefer both to DITC. Thinkin the new one's gonna have an even cleaner sound than the last 2, which would be a bummer for me, but I'm sure the songs will still be strong.

Freedom Call is, without a doubt, the gayest band I have ever heard. Granted I have not heard all of their material, but a good two albums' worth or more, and they are certainly not for me. They strike me as what it would sound like if you took Gamma Ray, and then removed everything good and heavy about them and replaced it with fairies and rainbow warriors. To me the band is good for occasionally laughs and some silly good times, but in no way do I hold them in any regard as a very good, serious lot.

Meh, they make good music in my opinion. Not in the mood to construct a well-composed argument defending why they a) are not gay, b) fall into the same "gay" category that many power metal bands do, and c) I listen to/like them. If you don't like them, hooplah.

I've realized one of my absolute favorite things is when bands end albums with mellow, acoustic-ish songs. I think they always work better at the end of a record to bring you down emotionally, rather than fucking up the vibe in the middle of them. I'm not really talking about ballads in general, but acoustic songs, there's a difference. Anyway, I think this is one of the best examples of this technique I've ever heard.
