Some of the n00bs who have posted there own lists are comical. Someone actually put Operation: Mindcrime. And one guy who apparently exclusively listens to '80s thrash included The Years of Decay, The Legacy, Bonded By Blood, ... And Justice For All and Rust In Peace.

Some of the others are clearly kids, because they've included a load of albums that have been out for five minutes.

Yeah i read this, I'd say my top 5 underrated albums (albums that i think are really good that people may not of heard of/arent so popular) are:

1. Dream theater - Scenes from a memory :horns: (<amazing album)
2. Heathen - Victims of deception
3. Sabaton - Metalizer
4. Municipal waste - Hazardous Mutation
5. Freedom Call - Crystal empire

-Scenes From a Memory is a great album, my 2nd favorite thing Dream Theater has done. I wouldn't say it's underrated though. Along with Images and Words and Awake, I'd say it's among the 3 most agreeably great DT albums.

"Underrated" lists are stupid. Underrated by who?

I agree with DethMaiden here. A much more relevant (and potentially informative) list would be "Top 20 Albums No One Knows About", or "Top 20 Albums You Haven't Heard, But Should", or something like that. I love those - they are nearly always filled with good stuff, and I like the thrill of discovery almost as much as listening to my old favorites sometimes.
