Dethmaiden wrote a great blog piece (http://www.metalsetlists.com//blog.php?b=8) on the importance of local music. Unfortunately, METALSETLISTS can't feature blog stories the way we can a forum thread. So until I find a fix for that, here's a Misinformation sub-forum to do just that.
