I need some help. I can assume that a few of you guys are pretty well-versed in rap, and I need some suggestions. I really like Immortal Technique, from what I have heard of Mos Def and Talib Kweli I like (I need to buy Blackstar), and I like most of Immortal Technique's guests (like Akir). I also like what little I have heard of KRS-One and Public Enemy. As a side note, I am a fan of Eminem's more serious stuff (Mosh, Mockingbird, When I'm Gone) and Fort Minor.

If anyone has some stuff they think I would like, let me know.

Yes you do.

It was 20 at FYE, and I am short on cash, but once I get back from Europe I might hit that.

I also failed to mention that I like a little Tupac (california love) and Mickey Avalon (how did I forget him??)

HAHAHA. I was reading a thing about how Ice-T was saying that Soulja Boy was ruining hip-hop. Soulja Boy's response? "How you gonna make a song called ‘F’ck the police?’ 35 years later your ass playing the police on TV…"

Soulja Boy can kiss my ass. He can also kiss Ice-T's ass.

I'd suggest Wu Tang and Atmosphere

On the other hand, if Soulja Boy had said "How you gonna make a song called "Cop Killa" he would have had a point. :barf:

no no no no no. on both counts. nwa was historically significant, but their skills back then were crappy. both cube and dre did their best work later.

with krs-one, public enemy, mos def, and talib kweli, you're on the right track, son. although i'm finding kweli's getting stale. i'd say you should check The Roots (anything probably, but their latest two albums -- Game Theory and Rising Down -- are as good a place as any to get on board), Illmatic by Nas, Desire by Pharaoh Monche, Food and Liquor by Lupe Fiasco, and Steal This Album by The Coup.

Illmatic by Nas,

That's a great album, but its extremely cryptic. There's so much slang and allusion, that if you're a white kid living in the suburbs you aren't gonna know what the hell he's talking about. I suggest waiting on that one until you've owned enough rap albums to decipher alot of hip hop slang.

Better yet, you can listen to full length samples on youtube. That place is practically a music library now.

Anyone familar with DJ Green Lantern? He used to DJ for Eminem and 50 Cent, he's worked with Ludacris, appeared on 'Run's House', worked behind the scenes on Chapelle's Show, and is currently working with Busta Rhymes, Immortal Technique, Jay-Z, and Fort Minor. Pretty good at what he does.

What prices have you been seeing Low End Theory go for?

Well, most of the places that I go to look (FYE, used CD stores, etc) they dont carry it, but if they do, its around 20 bucks. Since I havent heard anything off it, I dont want to drop that much right off the bat. Was hoping to sample it first.
