Sunday night after July 4th weekend at The Bottletree. In other words, not a whole lot of people there, but still a decent turnout by the end of the show.

Alraune opened, but I had no idea who they even were. They put on a great show and the music was excellent so I bought their one and only album at the end of the night. I noticed on the CD that they're on Profound Lore (same as Ash Borer) so I'm assuming that's how they got an opening slot. 8/10

The Wailers opened the show. Just before they started playing there was a recording of Bob Marley saying, "Greetings, Jah people!" That got a huge cheer from the crowd. Their set was pretty much what I expected. It was super fun! "Stir It Up" was an excellent live jam. The crowd sang the chorus of "Three Little Birds" louder than the band. "One Love" is one of my absolute favorite songs in the whole world, and they ended with it, so I was... [Read More]

There's something about a small, loud, sweaty space that attracts some of the best punks in a city for a show. A contingent of punks, metalheads, and everything in between descended on Vandal's last night, turning the venue and the connected Black And Gold Tavern into a hardcore and thrash extravaganza Saturday night.

Vandal's is just a room with a barely-there stage tacked on to the back of the Black and Gold Tavern, so naturally it was the perfect jumping off point for Altered... [Read More]

Queens of the Stone Age
Support: Brody Dalle
Venue: General Motors Center in Oshawa, Ontario
Date: Saturday July 5th, 2014

I really only wanted to go to this show because my friend Ryan wanted to go and we never get to hang out. It was in the town I was born in: the Land Time Wishes it Could Forget. I haven't really liked Queens of the Stone Age since the self-titled album. Then the day before the show he got a new shift at work that prevented him from going. ... [Read More]

Got there towards the end of Kobra and the Lotus, caught maybe 2 songs from them.

Def Leppard was good. The bass was too high in the mix on some songs but overall they sounded good and got the crowd going.

Next up was Kiss, and they were solid throughout. Paul sounded better than last time and they were really awesome again. No encores for them, Paul commented that there was no sense in going offstage and making people wait.

The turnout was probably... [Read More]

T-Shirt worn: Burzum 'Hvis lyset tar oss'

I got to the venue just as Jex Thoth was starting up. They played for about seven hours...or maybe it was forty minutes. I wasn't a fan at all and I know some people here are so I'm just going to stop. The guitarist had a wicked tone but yeah...

Agalloch sounded a little rough for... [Read More]
